Champion fly caster Whitney Gould is shown here doing some accuracy training. This is an elite level casting stroke, and can serve as a model for anyone interested in good casting mechanics.
She's specifically focused here on making sure to begin each backcast stroke by utilizing her shoulder muscles, and not by pivoting in the elbow first and then engaging the shoulder (a very common flaw among many fly casters). The fast, powerful strokes she's employing are due to a screaming crosswind that requires a lot of line speed to offset. She's casting at three targets, ranging from 25-55 feet.
