Okay I dont understand the safety bit about the lathe, but the bungee cord is such a great idea, it never occurred that something like that would work so well for that, its pretty solid. That said, i think the getting whacked in the face with a bungee cord risk could totally be eliminated by using a big weight tied to a pully, hypothetically it'd do the same work of returning the work to the correct position, but would be way simpler and much more tuneable. Still really neat stuff though, this cabinet is really shaping into a fine addition.

I did not see anything that would be unsafe for my skill set! The lathe is Mickey Mouse but your just trying it to see if you like how it works, so no problem. Thank for sharing.
