Thank you for your kind words. We use the sails for assisting with fuel economy only. We, thankfully have never needed them as emergency propulsion. We watch the weather very carefully when choosing to make a passage and therefore almost always are in light wind. These light wind conditions mean the sailing usually offers little advantage. If the win does pick-up we do deploy the sails and get an extra push.

I need to install a temp sensor on my exhaust when I reinstall it all. I also like where your fan is located. Much easier to get to than in front of the engine.

A temperature sensor is important, or at lest have it as part of your hourly engine room check to ensure the stack is cooling correctly.

Ok. Yes. I liked your video. But you didn't finish the story. Did you have the part? Did you change the fan? How long did that take. What did you do meanwhile. Just drift? Where were you? Far from land, or what? Tnx

Thank you for your question. Yes, I had a replacement fan in my spare parts. Tracy took the helm and slowed down to reduce the heat the engine was making and I went into the engine room and changed out the fan. From the time we saw the temperature rising to when the fan was replaced, it was less than 15 minutes. We were traveling from the Florida Keys to Miami.

Yes, I keep several spare fans on the boat. I go through about one a year. The new one was in and running in about 5 minutes.

I might have missed it but what was wrong with the wiring for the fan?

The fan died. I was explaining that I quickly replaced it with a new fan by using the existing bracket, and the only thing else needed was for me to wire the new fan, Sorry for any confusion.

Thank you for your question. I use the Maretron system. The module is the TPM-100 and the sensor is their standard temp sensor.
