This is the best toolbox tour I've seen. I loved how he didn't just open a drawer and say "here's my fucking tools" then immediately close it. It was awesome how talked about individual tools in depth, and even acknowledged some purchases that he doesn't use as often as he thought he would. This is the gold-standard for tours.

I went with the Mac impact mainly because I liked how it used Dewalt batteries (I left a battery and charger for my drill at my old job). It shits on every Snap On impact I try. BUT, Milwaukee shits on all lol. MAc only gives 1 year warranty so next impact is definitely a Milwaukee.

Ray, I have been a mechanic since the late 80's and have many Snap-on tools as well, I never watched any KZbin video longer than maybe 20 min, I have to say this one was very entertaining and informative. I think the majority of the haters don't get it because they are not REAL mechanics, perhaps just parts changers. Also there is one thing in life I have learned: people spend their money on something, whether its cars, motorcycles, alcohol, gambling, prostitution, etc.....Why not tools? if it's the way you make a living and you enjoy/appreciate a quality tool they buy what you want. As far as I'm concerned most of the Snap-on tools are better then the competition.

Great tools pay for themselves in higher productivity and pay raises. Less problems. Less stress. Get a pneumatic cooling system pressure tester. Some cars need to sit overnight to find the leak. F all that pumping!

Iv been a diesel mechanic/truck mechanic/commercial mechanic (not sure what it’s called in America, in Australia we are called trucks mechanics or “heavy vehicle road technician”) for 13years and we don’t have classes of techs. My father was a mechanic for 50+ years.. He has just as many Snap On, Matco, mac, tools as this guy, if not more which will be going to me.. I'm a master electrician, been in the trade since 2003, we use Klein, Fluke, Dewalt, Milwaukee and Bosch.. Every trade has their own list of big name brands, I have used all my father's tools and he's used all my tools.. when it comes down to it, the big name brands are better quality no matter what you say or how much you hate on them. You get what you pay for.

This was the first time I ever could see just how much tools a dealership mechanic just needs. you need to be prepared. sometimes you need a tool from the truck because you may not have time to get it after work. i am not a professional mechanic but i have gone to a vocational school 32 years ago. i do all mechanical work myself and what i don't have the tools to do i take it in to the shop. great job and entertaining!!!!!

When i watch these tool box tours ( which i love watching by the way), as a machinist it cracks me up when I see the tens of thousands of dollars spent on tools but when it comes to their precision measuring tools like digital or dial calipers, mics indicators and such they have the absolute cheapest junk that can be had. I looked up the digital calipers Snap on offers.. They are like 80 or 90 bucks and are the exact same cheap crapo ones harbor freight sells for like 15 bucks. To all you techs out there...do yourself a favor and look elsewhere than the tool truck for brands like starret and mitutoyo

The one hose pick you haven't found a use for yet... 6.5L Diesel 1994 to end of production when you do a relocate for the PMD. You can just pop the harness loose and fish it out really quick without pulling the intake. I've used mine about a dozen times. It saves you on flat rate jobs.

I've been enjoying so many of Milwaukee's new cordless and hand tools for my job. Their wrench sets they came out with are amazing maybe a little wider handle then others, but they do bite the fasteners. If they get into the ratchet/socket business that might be good completion for the other big names.

I just bought my first snap on product at a pawnshop and man it was a steal!!! Bought the solus edge scanner for $400 and it's brand spanking new. Was never registered and I just registered it. Not a single scratch on it. Retails for $3,800 on snap on's page but they're selling for $1,600 on eBay and letgo. I got a good deal!!

the Old-Timers I have talked to KNOW that quality tools helped them earn a living, and cheap tools do the job some times but lead to busted knuckles, then trying to use the wrong tool for the job, because the right tool is in pieces, then trips to the store to buy new tools instead of earning money.

I understand where there coming from with saying that. But buying a professional brand for a professional job is worth it, you have to invest in yourself and your tools to make your living. Plus if you buy snap on you can sell those tools second hand for good money, or pass it on. I have a few tools of my fathers that are snap on once he retired and I was still able to get warranty on the hand tools that were 40plus years old.

When I started as a mechanic, under paid from the school of hard knocks. An old timer told me. "Don't buy new tools, go to garage sales and pick up old tools". So I went around and bought matco, snap on, craftsman, whatever to fill my box. Then he told me "buy what u borrow" every time I borrowed a tool from a guy I wrote it down, then the next week I picked it up off the truck. I saved thousands! And I'm not making payments. Plus I don't have tools I don't use! Biggest waste of money is full tool sets. See what your working on then build your kit. I have a dozen 13mm 10mm 17mm and 19mm everything, sockets to Allen's. Rarely do I use a 12mm or a 16mm. So y have 5 different types of it.

Boyd Boys the only tool we need is a meter. Which the school sells for like 100 bucks and it’s made by blue point. Get one on eBay and I’m sure you can find one for probably $50. The tools you’ll need in class other than that should be provided by the school.

For torque loss with extensions. Always test torque with extension on then you know the difference and can use your extension for torquing. Never had an issue
