What I find sad about Doms death is that Cole and Baird weren't even there. The OG squad that had been together for years on the most insane missions. And during deltas mission, Baird and cole meet their old squad and eventually finding out from Paduk that Sophia was dead. Then coming back and finding out that Dom was dead.

I didn't make that parallel mostly because I play Judgement particularly Aftermath after 3. So really Baird and Cole were already not in the best mood. Then the news about Dom hits. This drama,tension and grief are solely missing in the Collation games. Another reason their games are far and away inferior.

​@@daranaqelforastero319I'd guess that because there's a noticeable tonal shift. Some questionable direction, even if justified by already existing lore. And most of the new characters aren't that great. That's not to say some of the hate isn't unhinged. Whatever someones issue is, there's plenty of friction to not like something they have elevated expectations from their childhood. I particularly dislike some direction choices and the modern rumbly sound design. Some of the stuff I like less is also present in gow3. It just doesn't hit what I liked about the originals and it isn't strong enough on it's own merits to overcome that.

I’m a bit late to the party since you uploaded this almost a year ago, but the part in Act IV, at around the 40:00 minute mark where the lady says “maybe not all cogs are bad” and let’s you into the armory. It’s a secret scene that only unlocks if you go through the entire city without knocking down any ash people either by walking into them or shooting them. It’s a cool little Easter egg

To explain how Adam knew Myrrah before E-Day, Adams wife was exploring the hollow when she came across the Locust. She had written notes and was planning on telling the world about them, but before she could, she was captured and executed. Adam, trying to find his wife, followed her trail and was met with the locust, where he had a meeting with Myrrah. She explained they were at war with lambecy and that they had no other choice but to invade the surface. Adam, not wanting a gnlenocide, convinced her to stay in the Hallow so he could create the device he finished at the end of Gears of War 3. Before he could, the Pendulum wars were still ongoing, and they pressured him into creating the Hammer of Dawn, which made it impossible for him to help the Locust. This inevitably lead to them invading the surface.

To unlock savage theron play on the map trenches and mainly just use tickers up to wave 5 or so to save the most money. Then use boomers. Its a better strategy in co-op and if you want my brother and I can help you. We basically have it down to a science and have helped other people get the theron

To answer your question to what became of Griffin after gears of war three in the aftermath during the interwar period. He found a group of survivors within Char and they formed another community overtime when Anya and others were reestablishing the COG he was invited to join its council of ministers, in which he did now whether he will be seen in any future game remains to be seen

@@GuscioRosso I understand where you’re coming from but in a book sometime after the end of the war the new new COG did find Griffin and whatever grievances he had with him were aired out and they agreed to work together because in the interwar period the new COG had settlements built in different parts of Sera and those who refused to take part in the COG’s new society were referred to as Outsiders. Seeing as to how Griffin and his people used to be Stranded during the Locust War and Lambent Pandemic and how things were working out for them back then it would seem that their chances at survival would be better if they joined up with the COG despite whatever past there was and considering how Anya was it’s First First Minister I’m sure that tried foster good relations with former stranded Griffin included and considering how she was nothing like Chairmen of the previous COG it Griffin probably felt more trusting towards Anya plus it was a 25 year period in between Gears of War 3 and 4 so that’s plenty of time to hash things out.

One thing I loved about gears of war 3 is beast mode and the characters for the locust. I don’t think you fight a single Miner or Hunter in the entire game yet we have both of them for Variety cause unlike Gears of war 4 and 5 we just have the enemies we fought and nothing out of the blue like The spotters and stuff like that, just made up enemies that we legit never see in story mode and variants of it instead of the same enemies with different colors. And Dom’s death scene still hurts me to this day

GoW 3 is probably my favourite game of the trilogy, even if I have and I'm still playing the crap out GoW Pc version. The most beautiful scene of the trilogy is imho when in GoW 1 Delta squad arrive at the imulsion extraction station, with the rain and the lights of the tank illuminating the scene. Dark, intense and very atmospheric. In GoW 2 there is, nonetheless, the most mindblowing sequence, inside the riftworm. In GoW 3 I really loved the initial split-squad adventure, with Marcus and Dom on the ship and Cole and Baird on land searching for food, finally converging to the first revelation given by Chairman Prescott. In GoW 3 I adored almost every chapter of the game, except the last one: too bright and colourful.

I played Gears 1 when it first came out, I was real young and not use to extreme violence in games yet. I played co-op with my brother so I got to play as Dom and got all those achievements. Then the second game came out and blew our balls off with how good it was. Dom was quickly becoming one of my favorite video game characters and when he finally found Maria, damn that hit hard. Then comes 3 and I just knew deep down Dom wasn't gonna make it. Then you go to Mercy and my brothers like "oh god, here we go". Man I never really cried at a video game before that point. I don't like any of the gears games that came after so I really just accept 3 as the finale and the rest just feels like fanfic. These 3 games need to be remastered, just give them new graphics and change nothing else, they're amazing the way they are.

She was a beautiful woman, I agree, but her personality was like fucking arsenic. It may be wrong of me, but I enjoyed watching Marcus kill her. All of this death and destruction could have been avoided if she had just had _a little_ bit more faith in Adam. All of those cities destroyed, all those innocent lives lost, because she couldn’t look past the mistakes of the men who raised her. She thought all mankind was rotten to the core, while refusing to acknowledge the fact that she was human herself, and therefore no damn exception. If she had just waited, Adam would’ve came up with a way to get rid of the Lambent, the Locust could have retaken the Hollow, and possibly even made peace with the Humans after things had calmed down from the pendulum wars. But no. She was impatient, petulant, and possessed of an ego so damn big that the thought of having to wait for anything offended her. And so millions of people are dead, and all that blood is on _her_ fucking hands. “Feel that? That’s from Dom. And everyone else you killed, you _bitch.”_

Gears of war is probably one of the healthiest trilogies I've ever seen. Unlike most trilogies where there's always that black sheep of the series, gears of war doesn't have that (not counting judgement) You got fans of the first game that like 1 the most for its horror elements, but still acknowledge that 2 and 3 are great games. Then of course you have people who still discuss if 3 and 2 are the peak of the series, while still respecting each other for liking one over the other.

About 20 minutes in and enjoying the video a lot so far! One thing I'm noticing is pretty big variance in volume between your commentary and game audio. I have the video volume maxed to hear your commentary nicely, but then you'd cut to game audio and it's drastically louder so it's a bit of a shock and can hurt my ears if I'm wearing ear buds. Overall though I'm enjoying the video a lot! Good commentary and nice to look back at a series I played a lot

Yeah it definitely felt like that for sure lol. Adam just had to charge and release the device. Certainly a different feel of ending a conflict, especially compared to 2 with them initially using a bomb and having to change plans to blowing up the brumak.

The series should have ended with this game as the existence of the sequels feels very hamfisted, forced and a clear cashgrab. In my opinion, after 3 they should have made games that would allow us to see the conflict with the Locust from different angles, focusing on entirely new characters, locations and battles or maybe go as far back as the COG-UIR conflict and explore that part of the series' story, especially because the war ended very recently before the Locust invasion. The trilogy ended perfectly and the next ones, outside of the other apparent and significant faults, were becoming quite woke, feminist and tried also aesthetically to appeal to kids who were raised by games like Fortnite.

Yeah I thought they wouldve been done at 3, but I still appreciate the newer games for brining more context to the locust and seeing how events after they survived the locust war unfolds. Although as im currently playing through 4, I can see the many faults and just cringe they had trying to introduce us to the Gears universe again, while I dont think its "woke" necessarily, the direction is very questionable with the characters. I say that, but I really would love to see a pendulum wars era game that maybe leads to e day towards the end of the game.

doing beast mode on drydock is pretty easy. as soon as you’re able to afford a beserker, keep on buying it. the corpser is pretty good too since you can heal if you go underground

Unlike Gears 1 and 2, of which I fell in love with almost immediately, I think it took me some time to truly appreciate Gears of War 3. I used to think Lambent Contingency was the biggest cop out to end the trilogy because they somehow managed to destroy both the Locust and Lambent in one foul swoop, and while I still don't love it as a plot device, I do really like how the road to get to Azura was a long and hard fought one, with significant losses along the way for our heroes (Dom's death never fails to make me tear up every time I see it). And even when they get to Azura, you really feel like Delta Squad is putting everything they got into getting the Contingency plan going, and even when they finally succeed, it truly feels like a bitter sweet ending; sure, humanity won, but that won't bring back their loved ones and it will take decades for the COG to get back to normalcy (if indeed it could ever be the same, again) perfectly encapsulated in Marcus and Anya's final scene together. While I still believe Gears of War 2 to be the stronger of the two narratively (Gears 3 is way too damn reliant on you having read the books to know what's going on), I still think it was a good way to end the trilogy. :) And that's not even including the sick ass multiplayer modes, especially Beast Mode and the new and improved Horde Mode from 2! XD

Gears 3 is in my opinion the best gears of war game overall because every aspect of the game was great. The story was awesome and the multiplayer was the best in the series from the progression system to the gameplay, and the medals gave us some great rewards and some challenges that made the game even better. The horde 2.0 added some new features like a fortification system that was really cool. Then we got beast mode a new game mode that allows us to play as some of the coolest locust characters in the series like the berserker, or the serapede. Overall legendary experience that was one of the best games on the 360. Also, great videos! I love the gears summery vids. You’ve got yourself another subscriber 👍

I think the formers are saying those things, from what I know, they aren’t *completely* transformed, so a part of them is still aware of what they are and that they’ve murdered their own loved ones or friends and associates. Basically the flood if you’ve ever seen the Captain Key scene where he’s being “processed” by the proto-Gravemind, pretty fucked up.

I think the main problem with gears 3 is the ugly colour pallet and boring enemy design gears could really take a page out of resident evil and focus on a lot more enemy variety not saying it completely sucks but The lambent are the most repetitive enemy’s I have seen in any game me and friend were losing out minds everything they explode when you kill them

While I enjoy the lambent, it wouldve been really cool to see them mutate some more locust for more variability. Like a lambent kantus or really just more than mostly drones and dredges. The lambent were cool, but their stay didnt last as long as I wouldve liked

Man i used to have the pre order cole train football skin i think it came with the pre order or the midnight release. That game was my life for years much love for Gears *EDIT* - if you played the beta which you got access to through pre ordering the game, you had to either do challenges to unlock the character’s or something like that or win matches during certain weeks of the beta iirc. Man those were the days sprinting off the bus just run home and play gears with my dad after work

Dude, gears was a highlight of my childhood. I just watched all your videos on gears and miss the days of playing horde and just co op campaign. The story was sooooo good, 4 and 5 are okay but so eh imo compared to the new ones. I wish epic games would buy the rights back but good luck with big Microsoft lol I would love to play gears 4 and 5 co op tho

so he knew myrrah when marcus was a child, because a random locust murdered marcus mother when she was investigating something that marcus had randomly seen one night. Adam had knew of d day years before and so did hoffman and the worlds elites. The lambent wars was a civil war between the locust and lambent for i wanna say 40 years before the events of gears 1 and Adam firmly believed that they had a right to life and a right to live peacefully in the dark before all the events of e day. the problem with all of this is that there is an implication that myrrah wanted to sleep with adam or she had some feelings and the reason why marcus gets court marshalled and not killed is because of the fact that hoffman and adam made a deal to keep marcus safe, ignoring the fact that the warden was a huge sadist and sent hounds with razor sharp teeth after them which is how marcus got the scar. also marcus made the lancer to get past environmental hazards. The last time I played the Gears of War 3 campaign was in 2012 but that hunched over person Marcus discovers is a lambent and Dom’s death live rent free in my head even 12 years later.

Really amazing videos, but to be honest the franchise died with this game. Judgment while being very mediocre it still to an extent felt like a gears game, unfortunately same cannot be said for 4 and 5 which feel a lot like a fan fiction. In all honesty this should've concluded the story and if they do another gears to pick something entirely different.

30:56 Maybe this was patched, but in the emulated unpatched version i have you can absolutely kill those maulers early and end the level right then and there as they don't end up breaking through.
