This is so good! As someone who spent many years in polyamorous (ethically non monogamous) relationships and eventually decided that it wasn't for me, it's fine and normal. It really forces you to deal with your own personal demons and talk about it so you can really show up for yourself and your relationships. You can't bottle feelings up and if you're going to be your honest self with your partner or partners. Practicing polyamory is what lead me to my intentionally monogamous relationship. The key part being that it's intentional, not default.

Yes! I'm glad you figured out what was right for you and continued forward with intention and awareness. The greatest benefit of poly, to me, isn't having multiple partners, it's challenging the assumptions YOU bring into your relationships. Often assumptions that do a disservice to who you're with more even than to yourself. Challenging these assumptions, becoming aware of things you had been taking for granted, helps you, your relationship, and who you're with. It helps you be a better partner. I believe this is why trying poly or even considering it or getting exposed to it has improved the monogamous relationships of so many people in my life.

The people who know them don't need a label to know their situation. I only started using any of these terms myself pretty recently, for ease of discussion with strangers. That's the ultimate use of any self labels: to help communicate and to find people with shared experiences.

What a great segment! As someone who has been in various poly relationships across the years, it's so nice to see discussions about it that are non-judgemental, and that include actual ENM people. Also depends on the spiritual aspect. Although most folks are looking for a physically experience when partaking in Immoral fortitude the spiritual intanglement of Soul and spirit is activated during this connection. One can come out with more dark energy and take on the negative energy of participants. You can't expect to come out spiritually clean when your stepping into unknown spiritual territory. Is it possible to lay down beside a dog who has fleas and not get up with fleas?

To have left me and the others involved better than we found each other. As it happens, the only people I've encountered who assume ENM is mainly about a physical connection are those who are on the outside, speaking from assumptions.

Great show. I appreciate the candor of Ms. Hall. If traditional marriage and monogamy yielded better results, it would be much easier to defend. Given the divorce rates, and the utter contempt that precedes it, something is painfully wrong with our assumptions. And the standard playbook for "cheating" is to fly into an uncontrollable rage and destroy everything about the relationship. All things considered, divorce may be the most expense social pathology we face. Fighting and ugly divorce are two of the ACES. A close knit family raising healthy children is essential but monogamy does not guarantee that outcome. Trying to get all of one's desires/needs met by one person is extremely difficult. If you can do it with monogamy, wonderful! Personally, there is no one person who meets me on on the social, intellectual and emotional levels of importance to me. I do not need to have sex with all of the intimate people in my life, but I do choose to spend close time with those who fulfill me. It appears to me that religious strictures create more pathologies than they solve. Prove me wrong.

@@hellodestiny57 ha yeah that parts a bit tougher, it generally depends on the polycule from my experience. It can be really hard to manage and a look at any given polyamory fb page or subreddit will show how many people have trouble with it. That being said it normally comes down to a commitment to talk it out and find an approach that either fits all needs or you change the dynamic until all needs are met. It's also a commitment to being responsible to yourself and acknowledging when a dynamic isn't healthy or doesn't work for you. At the end of the day everyone has needs, if they aren't all met then its not a sustainable relationship and normally ends or changes until it is sustainable. There is also the concept of bandwidth that gets talked about a lot. Some people can handle a lot and others can handle 1 or 2 at most. Mostly it all just depends on the people involved and approaching it with an open mind lol
