Very few women possess the grace and dignity of Dionne, not to mention that voice. She recalls first traveling to France where the sight of her, a black singer, prompted gasps in the audience. How tone deaf do you have to be to not hear immediately that Dionne Warwick is a woman of colour? In spite of that obvious racism, she and others gave the world a legacy of the greatest voices ever recorded, in jazz and soul, but also pop music

It's really weird, they didn't consider her "black enough", when she was the consummate black woman, and any woman of color who could not, cannot pass her muster is, indeed, not black enough. At her ascendancy, she kind of represented the ascendancy of black women into American society, with her beauty and sophistication, which was both good and bad.

from her mold, came all the pop-elite that folks hear on top 40 stations, right now...today. Be them black or white, they are Beyonce', Rihanna, Adele, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and her cousin, Whitney Houston. She paved the way for them, not Barbra Streisand. Streisand and Cher, were just as famous, if not more famous, for the movies they starred in. That was not Dionne's course in life. She sold a ton of records before it dawned on anyone that black women in the music industry, weren't supposed to do that in POP. And thats why I mentioned all those names..because NONE OF THEM were relegated to one genre of popular music. They went mainstream with ease. And the only other black female singer, who did that before them besides Dionne, was Diana Ross. But of course, it took MANY YEARS, before she was able to join Dionne on top of the heap, where recording pop music was involved..and she had to leave the Supremes, in order to do that. So, that tag "the Original Queen of Pop' may sound cheesy and contrived. But its actually true. The Original Pop Queen, wasnt Della Reese or Aretha Franklin or Ella Fitzgerald or Lena Horne. It was Dionne Warwick.

Thank you! 🙏🏽 It feels so nice to hear my name, Dionne. This lady is a soft strong spirit! It’s a blessing to know that people are friends, or siblings in Christ! ❤ I was anointed to have a soft spirit, but standing is required in putting on the whole arm-our! I love you. Agape! ⌚️4️⃣🕊️. Getting armoured up right! 🙏🏽. God loves us all so much, yet he found a way to make life work for each of us! Waiting for answered prayer must be coming in the Dionne, not the Long, because it’s the longest! So long, but God is the love in us! In the world. 🌎 Period. God is with you! 💕I remember the very first time I saw Dionne! She was on Johnny Carson show! I was 10, 11?! No no, no no! Jesus is the way! Amen! 🙏🏽 Jimmy Carter was President! God’s will be done, and may prayers be answered and stay answered. We all deserve it! Agape! 🌾💕🌾 The words of her songs are strong and pure, and like she said, this is the black I was born knowing. I thought we were equal! 🟰 Amen. 🙏🏽 ⏰ A little outnumbered, and under-favored! An L. A. cry did what?! Eve?! Dianne Carol, you were always before us! Learning to love ourselves is the because of the greatest love of all! Yes.
