I was fortunate to see him several times in a group setting and with Ralph Towner. Ive been listening to him for many years and i can appreciate his invaluable contributions to jazz .May he rest in peace 🙏 he may be gone but not forgotten !!!!

Mark sez: I've seen John play in three ensembles: Jack DeJohnette's Directions (twice) and with Ralph Towner playing the Sargasso Sea material. So sad he's left us.

Hey Jody! I have your books and have learned so much from you. Thank you! This was a nice surprise finding you are hosting these videos! This account is my wife Ann's. I am Mark in Fishers (nice coincidence!) Indiana (northeast suburb of Indianapolis).

Had the good fortune to see Abercrombie 3 times. Went to a tribute show for him at Birdland and had the privilege of sitting at the table next to his widow. I miss him.

What kind of guitar is John playing??
@JodyFisherMusic4 жыл бұрын
I believe it is a Sadowsky solid body that he had just acquired.....

@@JodyFisherMusic thank you. Btw i am totally spellbound by his version of “Follow Your Heart”. Peace

First guitar is a Brian Moore. Second guitar is custom-made by Rick McCurdy. Definitely not a Sadowsky. John played Sadowsky guitars, but neither of these were Sadowsky models.
