Her first single and album hit the charts pretty strong. SNL appearance didn’t hurt. Her next album, Pirates, was critically acclaimed. (Still is.) And won the Grammy. Troubles sort of crept in after that.

Brother, Most people can't think, much less appreciate good music and lyrics. Just be thankful that we have a medium where those of us who want to can access this and many more artists that would have shriveled and died on the vine.Much less being able to put this out for us to appreciate, and with that many more will stumble upon it and be enlightened. Or they will fall down the social media black hole of despair and be caught in the miasma of the instantcancelling of those they don't agree with. Everybody has the right to be wrong, even you.
