Rickie, you let my friend Jean and I into the Jazz Cafe in London many years ago (1997?) when we had no tickets to your sold-out show. We had watched your soundcheck through the window and despaired of getting in as no ticket touts were around and all the ticket-holders had gone in. Suddenly one of your roadies stepped outside for a cigarette and saw us there, waiting without much hope in the cold February evening. He asked us if we had tickets and we said no and he said, wait right there. Two minutes later he beckoned us in and said, "Courtesy of Miss Rickie Lee Jones." Thank you

Ricki's first album is stunning from the first note to the last. It's full of nostalgia and wisdom and naivete. The playing is flawless. The writing is original. It's one of those records I want to turn everyone on to - and I do! We're blessed to have it and to have Ms. Jones. So glad she's still going strong and sounding and looking great. Ricki, please write a new record, put a band together, record, tour, and repeat! You've been missed!!

@mckayuk2 жыл бұрын
To hear these and other RLJ songs in this format a great idea. For something like this that is unlikely to be repeated I just think it deserved more attention to Video, Audio, lighting that wouldn't have impacted spontaneity and If cost a factor perhaps an opportunity to seek out some local students studying Movie, lighting, recording etc a chance to practice their craft. A Zoom H6 6-Track would have given us HQ Audio and for sure you film in 4K Video and perhaps even a 2nd Camcorder for different angles. Anyway before you all shoot me down for finding something to be disappointed about, I am because I care! and if I didnt I wouldnt have made a paypal donation to support her, and that from a Scotsman lol. This boy was one of the lucky ones to see her in 1979 on her first European Tour in Hamburg. That gig coincided with the coldest Winter in 100 years in North Germany, after the gig it was -20°c and on way home almost froze to death so popped into the Wintergarten Bar where, as chance would have it, was her after Concert party with many of the road crew being Scottish and an already special night became more special. Rickie didnt turn up to this her own party which was a shame. I do remember her leaving the stage in tears at one point, in the audiance it was impossible to know why but she did come back on but perhaps why she didnt feel in a celebratory mood when the concert finished, she missed however a good upbeat vibe in the Wintergarten which is and was a great little Bar in Rothenbaum Hamburg .

Right on the money. I’m 66. I waited outside the record store unti it opened to buy “Pirates”. Catherine Fisher. Yes it could, but some towns more than others. I came from a small town called Raritan with a STRONG Italian population. A lot of my friends spoke English outside and Italian inside. Parents were bilingual, too, but nana only spoke Italian, so I forced myself to learn enough to say "Hi", "Goodbye" and "yes, I would love more lasagna".

Two vinyl purchases and streaming songs later - played hundreds of times - it's still among the most heartfelt and moving music of all my life. To hear the stories behind these amazing gifts tonight was a super New Year's present. To know they still touch you as deeply demonstrates the purity and honesty put forth those years ago. I know it came to you divinely. So many appreciate the concerts you've done in this strange year. Now to make a donation. Happy New Year!

You give me so much joy. Thank you. You made me cry at the Byron Bay Blues Fest a couple of years ago. As I stood in the mosh pit, with tears in my eyes, listening to Sympathy for the Devil, a woman leaned over the crowd and put her hand on my shoulder and said, " You're not the only one ". When I looked at her, she was also crying, as many of us were. So many independent women in your crowd, all standing strong, crying, feeling - with you. I'm a serious atheist and respect your beliefs and I imagine your beliefs are stronger now than ever - just like mine. Love you Rickie. Keep it real.
