This exercise took place as far north as Northern coast of Alaska. I am a Norwegian National Guardsman who recently stood guard duty in the harbour were the USS Gunston Hall docked prior to this exercise. The ship I imagine these marines embarked from. The soldiers families and the American tax payer should know that their soldiers in regards to proper clothing are very ill-equiped for fighting war in Scandinavia in the winter months. Just when did my guard duty with them, we had to keep them warm in hour cars and so on. Provide hot drinks and so on. With pleasure of course, cause they are all really nice people. Those I met anyway. I remember speaking to one of their officers that the soldiers the dispatched out in the cold with us. Required more clothing that a t-shirt, summer uniform, a fleecejacket, thin mittens and gloves. I am not surprised of a few of them cought a severe cold or pnumonia. Our winter gear is light years better.

As a fellow Norwegian home guardsmen who took part in a guard duty for the first time as my first mission for the home guard. I was formally a home guard youth who took a 3 week course and that is how i got into the home guard. But i was on a mission in trondelag to watch over when the us marines dropped off some water tanks and trucks to take part of exercise some place close and i had fun on that mission even though I knew none of the squad mates before but i quickly got to know them and get into the rutine the most fun was talking to some of the yanks (american) whenever they were going to town to drink at a bar or sleep at a hotel and it was quite a sight. First off was that i was suprised that most of them were small compared to when you see them on the news ans such i always saw them as big tall muscle men but those i saw were muscle men but smaller than i had thought they would be. Funny thing about the yanks who went to town to drink is that when they came back to the guard gate one of the yanks had a little to much to drink that night so he ended up puking from the back seat of the renting car they drove and it reached all the way to the front window of the car so on the next day we could see him on the cameras cleaning the living heck out of the car. Poor guy! And other fun time was when another group of yanks came back to the main gate the car they drove had spike free tires so when they approched the gate the car slipped on the ice and they managed to crash the car on the gate and left a dent on it but sadly i wasn't around when those 2 events happend as i had the day shift and it happened on the night shift. One thing i just have to say about the american clothing for winter operation is that the marines and navy guys probally were at a warm place like texas or Florida when the ship departed so its likly they forgot to pack proper winter clothing but i must say that they could handle the cold pretty well considering they only wore a t shirt under their uniforms while i wore a net upper and lower under cotton upper and lower and i was freezing on some days when i was standing guard over the gate.

45-65 percent of the world would say thanks for a take home fentynal drink with a micro serial number in it and the world wouldn't have to do WW3, 4, 5, 6. The world would double its available resources to a world only full of those that want to be here, about half, and the average poor person would have 2 houses, 2 cars, 2 cows, ice cream, cheese and oil and clean water to last the planet. Take fresh lawnmower clippings to be sprayed with water and put in a flash freezer and you might double your cattle production Fresh lawnmower clippings in the front of the truck, bad ones in the back, people and money on property taxes and can hire somene to more their lawn on the day before pickup and save money on their taxes and buy some good T-bone steaks Do this asap

Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the USA taking part, over a hundred aircraft, over 50 ships and boats. Sweden and Finland have got right in without even stumbling, and the same day Sweden joins the alliance they coordinate with German and Belgian fighter jets to intercept Russian planes flying through the Baltic Sea with no logged flightplan, their competence and immediate integration is impressive.

I mean to be fair, Sweden and Finland have been with the West at least ever since the fall of the Soviet Union. Taking part in exercises and guarding their airspaces is pretty normal

@@cassu6more accurately Sweden has always been 'a western nation', but Finland has always been a nation between east and west, but has also always had to play things safe with Russia, while ideologically aligning alot more with the west. Finland has never wanted to be 'in the east' and Russia has coerced Finland many times. what I'm getting at is that there has always been a competent Finnish military, which exists only because of Russia. guarding the airspace is everyday and Russia sometimes deliberately violates Finnish airspace. Though I doubt they'll do so as easly now.

The general training isn't new, the Royal Marines also train in the Norwegian Arctic. However it's the scale of this exercise that is significant, it's a return to the large exercises of the 80's preparing for large scale conflicts and proper NATO integration of forces, not just small exercises. NATO already knows how to do exercises like this, but they're taking them even more seriously and doing it on a larger scale.

This isn't war, this is practice just in case, and a show of force to deter anyone from declaring war on a NATO country. Russia could learn from it, notice how NATO is able to do an exercise in Poland while also doing a large scale exercise in Norway at the same time, as well as the US holding drills in South Korea, it's a show of force to prove NATO countries can operate in multiple areas simultaneously and attacking any NATO country would not end well for them. Also notice how NATO is able to do an exercise without accidentally invading a sovereign country and trying to annex them for over two years, Russia may want to take some lessons.
