An Experimental Session: South Wales Sea Fishing!

Bristol Channel Sea Fishing at one of my favourite places. My Sea Angling memory bank is constantly being topped up but I like to keep the old memories alive by visiting the places that I love the most, I call this a memory reboot. This particular spot, situated on the Severn Estuary, is nested in-between Goldcliff and Redwick and it's where I have caught many great fish over the years, including my PB Cod. I've also caught Dover Sole, Flounder, Thornback Ray, Bass, Conger Eel, Mullet, Whiting and Rockling. A truly beautiful part of the world, it does wonders when it comes to mental health.

Another enjoyable session Gareth, thank you. Amazing to think that about half a mile out in front of you there's the remains of a fish trap that could be up to 7000yrs old. Seems it's been a good fishing spot for quite some time!

Maniged to get out my self last Sunday most people when they take a boat out in the Thames estuary they get bass and smooth hound. Me dog fish and a small ray but lm not complaining it was good to be out after the long spell of being unwell your films definitely got me through the darker times you always return the comments i feel like you're a friend even though we have not met. Bad luck Gareth. Some days are just like that. At least you didn't blank! Beautifully videoed as usual. I get the shivers every time I see you clambering down those rocks after falling down similar rocks where we used to live. You are a very kind soul to feed those horses. Many people are scared of horses just because of their size. My the parents of my son's partner have a horse agistment property in the hills and he has become quite "Horsey". Thanks for the video.

Hi Gareth yet another stunning video mate . Very interesting and informative as usual.. the way it's going with access to the sea wall being closed down... It won't be long before you are not allowed to walk down the sea wall... Perhaps you have not noticed that many footpaths are now closed .. even the gates have barbed wire attached to them . No access to the lighthouse hotel..??? Unless you want to walk .and then you will be told not to park on the road..by a miserable farmer .. Strange that for the last few years they have been charging to park at the lighthouse pub ... It was to pay for the carpark resurfacing..yet another rip off... outlet lane no where to park... excuse fly tipping.... perhaps they should have checked the house's on the lane to see where the rubbish came from..... The last time I fished gold cliff . which was not that long ago.i was approach by what I can only describe as a four foot dwarf.. who believes he owns the sea wall.at the side of his house. However is attitude suddenly changed when he took tumble down the Banking ...I think you know who I am on about.... I have heard of others who he has told to get off his land... when in fact they are on the public footpath... If people don't use them they will definitely lose them... Do some digging about planing applications for land that's running parallel with the seawall this side of the channel..??? And then you will know exactly why they are trying to stop people from using the footpaths. Anyway Gareth keep safe and well mate

Thank you Wayne. I'm good thanks, hope you're doing well. Yes, access is certainly becoming more of a problem these days, not as easy to get to marks as it once was. In the good old days, when fishing the West Usk Lighthouse mark, we used to drive up the lane and park in the owner's carpark...we gave him a few quid and he'd put it in his charity box. Unfortunately he stopped doing that as the minority ruined it for everyone else, by leaving rubbish in his carpark. Same for Outfall lane as you say, very limited parking now in the laybys. When fishing either mark, I park at St Brides and walk, but of course the disabled wouldn't be able to do that, it's a shame. Certainly a lot of people out there who think they own everything, when in actual fact they don't. I do wonder where it will all end. Anyway, cheers for watching, take it easy 👍

fished Fonty steps today over the high, not good at all boot strap conger and a few bites, guy next to us had 3 doggies, but was a beautiful day and dad enjoyed it, so left happy. Great Video mate.

Another fine video Gareth and an excellent choice of music! Believe it or not, I've got a similar hoodie that's got bream slime on it for years! It just won't come off. I reckon you could hang wallpaper with bream slime!!!😂 Anyway, keep up the quality videos and if there's any chance of getting a guided session with yourself, down Newport way, I'd be very grateful, as I tend to fish further west and would really like to expand my horizons.

Great video again Gar, I can watch your videos on repeat. So relaxing and beautiful to watch. I was hoping you had some advice. I've just got back into sea fishing and I have some goals this year. One of them is 3 new venues. Not decided yet, plan is outside my comfort zone of Gower. Do you have any advice for finding / going to new marks? Cheers keep up the fantastic work.

Thank you bud, appreciated as always. I wish I lived closer to the Gower, I'd be down there all the time, I love the place. As for three new marks, I guess you could try Newton Beach at Porthcawl, The Knap at Barry and then maybe St Brides at Newport...three very different marks but of course, there are many more to choose from but these three are fairly easy to fish. Hopefully you'll get to try them. Cheers for watching 👍

Thank you Don, much appreciated. You park next to the seawall tearooms at Goldcliff. Plenty of parking on the road, it's free. Walk up the steps and keep going left until you come to a pink house on a point, takes approximately 20 minutes. You don't have to go that far up, you can fish right next to where you park should you wish. Cheers 👍
