Alzheimer’s dementia is highly prevalent, under-diagnosed, and predicted to increase significantly in the coming decades due to an aging population. Unfortunately, a large proportion of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) also experience neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as agitation, depression, apathy, and hallucinations. In this webinar, our panelist will be reviewing the epidemiology of AD and accompanying neuropsychiatric symptoms with a focus on agitation. Dr. Jeffery Cummings will have a conversation with two individuals who have unique perspectives on the clinical presentation and experience of agitation in AD. Laurie Scherrer is an individual with early onset AD and Roy Scherrer is a care partner. The webinar will also provide the most recent definition of agitation from the International Psychogeriatric Association (IPA) and highlight clinically validated rating scales to assess agitation in AD.
