Awesome overview! Quick question - once you complete 150min within 7 days do you have to maintain a certain amount of running to maintain metrics? Specifically - I train and test devices for CrossFit - if I logged 150 min of flat road running, and then switched to all ‘Non-GPS Cardio’ or whatever it is called - will it update Load/Fatigue/etc going forward? Like with Garmin - to get ‘training status’ you have to do minimum (I’ve found that 5 min is min) running to keep stats, or will stats always be solely based on running history? I did watch the video! Just didn’t catch a full grasp. Also - great great job clarifying the absence of other training types being a big gap!
@fitgearhunter3 жыл бұрын
And yes - awesome hat. Way to give props to others!
@Dcrainmaker3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Once you cross that 150/7 threshold, you don't need to maintain anything for the training load portions. Whereas for the running portions you will. And technically speaking you'll get individual per-workout training load on every workout no matter the type, but for some odd reason it won't populate the trending graphs until the run side is completed. Honestly, a lot of those initial requirements seem a bit fuzzy right now. I have a funny feeling we'll see that change in short order, especially given you can't use trail running for the baseline.

Does evolab take into account your heart rate outside of work outs or is it purely pulling metrics from run or track mode activities. Example would be if youre going on walks that you don’t track or sleep with your watch does this affect your fatigue level in evolab? Thanks for the video.

I am looking at switching from Garmin as looks like the Fenix 7 is too far away and thinking there could be an argument to have both a large long battery life watch with maps like the Vertix 2 together with the Pace 2 that can be used for short road/city runs. If you had these two watches will they both sync seamlessly into EvoLab or would there be some loss of data and not an amalgamated picture of fitness changes? Thanks

My Garmin VO2max is generally higher when compared to the what I see in Daniel’s tables or McMillan calculator so perhaps this is more in line with those tables.

Yeah, seems unlikely in my case. I've been tested at higher values before, the Vo2Max 51 seems like it's just a case of not being able to quite hone in from the 6 week dataset it has.

My Garmin makes me click past a "Suggested Workout" before going for a run. Their "Recovery Manager" interrupts me when I'm taking a nap to tell me how I'm recovering. I hope Coros makes these features easy to ignore or disable for those of us that aren't interested in being coached (or are either self-coached or coached by another human being).
@Dcrainmaker3 жыл бұрын
You can easily turn off the suggested workouts if you want (steps for Fenix 6, but same on all watches): www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix6-6ssport/EN-US/GUID-3E98F0F7-8B88-46FC-9F82-61EB6ECEC628.html. On the Recovery Manager, I'm honestly not sure what exactly you're referring to there, as I've never had it prompt me on recovery in the middle of anything. But you can disable toggle virtually everything on a Garmin.
@mikesimms13 жыл бұрын
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks for the reply and the link to disable the Suggested Workouts. As for the Recovery Manager, it just randomly presents a notification several times a day to either congratulate me on a good recovery or scold me for not recovering well enough (presumably this is based on resting heart rate). The watch is indeed a Garmin Fenix 6. I've paused my Training Status and even disabled Activity Tracking. No luck. Also, I'm a little "on the spectrum" so I probably find random interruptions a bit more annoying than most people, lol.

How is GARMIN not suing COROS into a different solar system.
@Dcrainmaker3 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking there's really nothing Garmin-specific here actually. Sure, COROS largely copies fonts and icons, but in terms of the training load bits, that's all pretty standard TRIMP stuff.

It's more like they ripped off Runalyze, including "Marathon Shape" !
@Dcrainmaker3 жыл бұрын
@@Peakabike Garmin has been doing Marathon predictions for years. It's just a simple VDOT lookup table, they even used to link to it back in the old days. These days it's a bit more complicated as they also account for heat and altitude in VO2Max estimates (which is all these are based on), whereas COROS doesn't.
