I still have my old green Hornby class 25 (with directional lights), I was planing to do a "double motor" build of it. What I noticed that the old Hornby Co,Co, -s run better, even that the motor and gears are the same, and that they barely, or not stronger at all. And i would pick the Bachmann anytime do to the all wheel drive, and pickups; that's something that vital for me in any diesel, or electric loco, no matter the age (or at least 4/6 in Co,Co locos)
@SamsTrains6 жыл бұрын
Ooh awesome Tom, I've often wondered about trying that too - but I never have thus far! That is true - I must admit the Bachmann version is a much better performer! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

I have one of these Hornby class 25s my one is 25 052 also have been a driver's assistant on the 2 versions BR had this one and the one with out front doors and a full middle cab window ; but I like these version best. A lovely loco and makes a lovely sound when on full power , and had this one night when we banked a failing class 26 loco which was hauling 8 mark 1 coaches one evening and I still rember the sound and sparks from her Sulzer engine from the cab .the hornby model is brilliant.

@@SamsTrains their lovely locos :) you should do a review on the class 14 ( teddy bears) diesel-hydraulic loco as I spent a very enjoyable summer in 2015 with one we had at the spa valley railway on loan and used it on service trains and during the week on trains that it had original this class had been built for like trip goods and shunting , I found it a very good loco :) and like to see what the 00 model version is like ?

Hey Sam! Really need your help right now. So I've had a Bachmann Class 25 (From Brand New) got it about 3 years ago. How ever I ever to run it today and Only one if the 2 bogies are working, one is just wheel slipping as the other bogies wheel are just not powering? However the not working bogie seems to make like a ticking noise sort of, like something is catching when the motor revs. I've removed the body but Access any further as there is a big weight there and I'm unsure how to remove it? Right, I took the bogie out, I think (pretty sure) one if the things that goes from the driveshaft which makes the wheels turn is turning, but what gives it it's trip has worn off and now it's just spinning, not spinning and making the wheels turn. Any places for spares/new parts I could try?
@SamsTrains5 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Hmm yeah it sounds as though there's an issue with the drive shafts, without seeing it, I can't really advise! If you could send some photos to my email address, I'll do my best to let you know what's going on there! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam, I don't know if DCC Sound is your thing but I think you might even be able to have DCC Sound installed into that Class 25 of yours ! In this condition it might be worth considering ! Love a good Sulzer type 2. Although I wouldn't have either the Hornby or Bachmann version, because nothing compares to the real thing 😊 However I prefer the styling of the 25/3 variant, some of which survive in preservation - including the only mainline registered one on the NYMR, D7628 Sybila, which is my favourite! For the odd one out I'd say the 35 "Hymek" cos all the others are diesel electric locos. Keep up the good work Mr Sam! 👍

Nice model Sam, the previous owner has done a great job with the weathering and details, and nice work on the cab lights. Personally I would rather detail and weather a cheap second hand hornby loco, than buy a pricey new one from any company. Also I had a cab ride in a 25 once, 25 235 on an empty coaching stock run from Hollyhead to Crewe, but I only went as far as Bangor. Odd one out - the class 35 Hymek, cos that diesel hydralic transmittion, all the others were diesel electric? Have a great week Jon

Always love myself a good Ol class 25, THE RAT 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀. Anyone up for ratatouille 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀. Is the diesel numbered 87022 the odd one out being the only one that has pantographs ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️. The class 08's were bigger rats with over 900 built however 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀. Do more express reviews Sam, love myself a good express rat 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀. Has bullman ever eaten a rat 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

Hornby class 25 a great loco and easy to maintain. if I want sound I will go and see the real one,people expect too much these days and that's why locos are expensive. remember we are still playing with toy trains ten pounds or 100 pounds
