You probably have the most level headed take on the whole souls-like discourse surrounding this game lol. I am just so happy we finally have a new armored core, and I feel like each gen of AC has changed or added something new anyway. August 25 cannot come soon enough!

The hard lock on feature was started in AC4 to for answer. And you need to be close for that to activate and had soft lock at a distance for range attacks. The healing and checkpoints began in the first generation to late 3rd gen. Before you fight nine ball you regain your health and ammo. 3-through last Raven had refuel trucks during certain missions. And the kick and scan mode came from 5/verdict day. So ultimately AC6 is a mix mash of all generations with modernized control aspects and mechanics From Soft is know for. So there shouldn’t be any contention, this but a small sample of what’s to come. I hope they come out with a demo soon so we old and new fans can put this matter to rest.

THE WAY YOU STOPPED THE MUSIC DURING "Why does it matter???" Sent me. Holy shit man! LMAO it was also great that Vaati said the same thing basically later on. Also, he uploaded an actual video of his impressions during the whole of chapter 1 missions (he played the game in general, of couse you could skip around if you don't want to see too much) where he goes into even more depth on how this is totally Armored Core...to the core heh. Could be worth a reaction if you haven't watched it! Figured I'd throw it out there. Game looks AMAZING and from what I've heard of the possible length, I'm sure I'll be spending like 100 hours and at least 20 of those will definitely not be in the Garage....:p

i actually really like the vaati hud mainly because all the information is on the bottom of the screen and of course me being dota player alot of what im doing is glancing at the bottom of the screen for info, and about the healing part i understand why people dislike it since all the other ac games dont have it but also the other ac games have a lot of AP or the enemy doesnt hit that hard (i have played AC4A, AC3 and ACLR even tho ACLR and AC3 have a classic AP count) i kinda speculate that fromsoft will lower the AP in this game to make the game seem more intense from low health but also give the player more chance with healing

That's what I'm a fan of as well, cause from my experience with most action games; much of their hud tends to be at the bottom of the screen. Hell, I even customize my UI to have much of my stuff at the bottom when playing XIV. So if this HUD is just like how Vaati describes it, then I'm sold.

AC Community: Now From Soft can use the lessons they learned from Dark Souls and apply them to Armored Core. From Software: *uses elements from Dark Souls* AC Community: This game is too much like Dark Souls. While I admit to having concerns, they're more curiosities than anything. He mentioned one, the tank fighting a boss like that. I wonder how a tank will traverse a level like that. As far as health and supply drops I have questions, but that feature was addressed as a necessity. Not so much as being more casual, but the levels being large and having exploration. Being veteran ravens we know how confined the levels were, and pretty linear. Having no drops or health of some sort would be a deterrent to exploration.

If I'm not mistaken, it was said in an interview that melee weapons would be exclusive to the left hand. Also FromSoftware did say that they weren't going to dumb down customization so it'll be as complex as older games. ALSO Also if FromSoft is going to give us this much utility...hard lock on, mid mission assembly and INSTANT healing, imagine the type of adversity we'll face as a result.

Indeed indeed. There's so many ways they can go about giving us some challenge in the game. I mean hell, in the trailer there was a scene where you were needing to dodge multiple missiles like it's a bullet hell game. Which is why... WE NEED THAT DEMO FROMSOFT!!!!!

Just speculating a bit, but what if the repair stations by default only repair your AC and if you want to restock ammo and repair kits you have to spend money to call in a drone?

Tbf From what I've seen even when the mech shoot the giant robot I feel like they still need to / can aim while lock on because no way they can aim the boss's weakness when their aim circle dead lock into the boss. Maybe only their screen lock on to it but the aim circle still can some what freely moving. Just my spectaculation though.

I have already written this under another video about the new AC6 gameplay, but still... I have two friends, and one of them is a souls fan, and he never played Armored Core. A couple of days ago I gave them a try to play AC3, AC4 and ACFA. And I started with AC4, because of the more accessible controls, and it's not as fast as FA, and his first reaction was something like, "How the hell do you play this?!" I tell him, "C'mon man it's easy. Just use the claw grip. "He says: "I can't! It's too complicated. ". And in AC3, everything was really bad because of the more complex controls. My second friend didn't even try. It's just that not all tryhards like us, AC fans. So I fully understand why Frome Software changing AC to be more accessible. And i think mostly it's not that bad. And also changed controls and hard lock on may be really interesting new way to play AC. Edit: Mecha games in general are a very niche genre. And Armored Core is probably the most difficult in this genre due to the complexity of controls and different mechanics like AC customization, etc. So it's better to be realistic and just understand that if the new AC hadn't been changed, then only we, the fans, would have played it. And a new audience would simply have bypassed.

I hope when the game comes out you can stream it full for us. Maybe a rage compilation after you done with a hard section. Plus I think FromSoft make some inclusive adjustments not to dumb down the gameplay. It mean that player will now fight the environment and the enemies instead of their old clunky control back in the day.

i can not believe how cynical people can get about this game, i just start wondering if we saw the same footage, such awesome gameplay and art design and people focus on something so miniscule as healing or quickturn that will probably be well implemented anyway, idk about yall but i've never been more excited for a game

Totally agree with you. We're here for a good game, who cares if it feels more souls-like? It's a FromSoft game, they learn from previous games, nothing wrong with that. Demon Souls learned from Armored Core, Dark Souls became the spiritual successor of Demon Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring learned from Dark Souls, Sekiro learned from Bloodborne and AC6 is learning from old AC games as well as Sekiro which can be said as learning from their cumulative experience. Even after all that, it doesn't matter. Camera was jank, glad they fixed it. Glad they didn't throw the original lock either. Healing and checkpoints are a blessing. AC levels were never this big so they were never a problem.

Like with most things, caring about it isn't really an issue. If the end product really feels too detached from the other entries, the fans of said entries have their individual right to criticize and not like it. Not all people are waiting for just "a good game", they want a good Armored Core game. But there are absolutely right and wrong ways to express said opinions.

I just think that people are simple creatures and like to generalize and simplify things for themselves. That's why instead of "zeldalike" we have "soulslike". In fact, FromSoftware has more series/games than AC and DS. And there will probably be similarities in many of their games. It's their style of game development. Just as in today's negative sense Ubisoft's games are the same.
