"Hard lock" did occur in 4/4a if you were close enough to be given a guaranteed sword melee hit, it's just very easy to break because you have to be so close for it to properly function

The repair kit is probably because its getting longer missions. The longer the mission the more likely it is for you to build up damage over the long mission so thats probably their purpose

honestly I think the repair kits are there so you dont have to "back track" to a Workshop site like ACV where the system was first and only implemented even then 4 digit AP....

I'd be interested in watching you react to Vaati's playthrough of the AC games. Its a great video...but yeah, its rather long. Anyways Armored Core VI looking extremely fun so far. It is a little disappointing to see some of the more "simulation" aspects get replaced for the sake of accessibility, but it is what it is. Still really excited for the game and willing to accept it as it comes.

Tbf if youre talking about the hard lock on its been confirmed that the hard lock turn isnt from hard lock on and its a manual input, so the lock breaks when you lose line of sight and its more just to help with focusing view and camera. Its also said that it's actually more of an ac 4 auto sighting than sould, with just a more streamlined system. Its also tied to fcs and has stats behind it so it's not an always on souls lock and it wouldn't work if it was because people would spam op builds with tank treads to always stay on you and there would be pretty much no other builds. At this point we know fromsoft would take that into consideration. The heals also make more sense because lots of players have said enemies do much more damage now and levels are obviously a lot longer. The only thing I'd say has really casualized the experience is the swapping acs when you die but even that makes sense cuz itd be really really annoying to have to go to the beginning of a 10-20 minute level just to change one part of your ac and it will most likely cost credits to edit like this. 4th gen kinda made a hard lock on just like this with its auto sighting because all you really had to do was look in the General direction of an enemy and you were pretty sure to hit. I mean that system has been said to have been what inspired souls lock on in the first place but nobody cares about it and people tend to forget it was even a thing so i think this will be alright. We'll have to wait to see more tho ig, and if you want to know where i got this info from and more stuff about how this works its talked about pretty in depth on ratatoskr and fightincowboys podcast since fightin cowboy saw extra gameplay showing this and heard the dev explaining it.

FYI if you look at the bottom of the screen when it comes the garage it say Y to toggle display.

just wish they hadn't removed the radiators, I loved mix matching parts, removing that part and integrating it to the generators means you're locked to certain energy loadouts, I personally hate it, kind of ruins having a lot of stats

​@@NewsofPEI wish they had to remove the balancers having to balance out your neck is really cool or it wouldn't function as well. Like you had a really heavy thing on the other side you had to figure out how to balance it

Yea I've heard this recently and it's good to hear. As for AC lock inspiring the souls lock... sorta. Souls lock turns your character tho. That was the only concern. AC always had FCS lock for aiming. But a lock that turns your mech for you would ruin the game.

Most changes I'm hearing about seems perfectly fine but this wouldn't be such a problem if they would show more and stop dancing around without just showing it. The fact that they won't allow us to see the HUD is really weird to me and seemingly a lot of people think the same. Also I'm more worried about the difficulty. Once again we have seen nearly nothing and the game comes out in just over 2 months unless it gets delayed. I just don't understand why we are put in the dark for so long. Sadly this is making it very hard for me to pre order a From game, which I never thought I'd say.

it's simple really, it's to hype peoples up, there's no stronger self hyping method than their own imagination, showing the HUD sooner or later doesn't change anything because the people that will buy AC just due to that will decide later on anyway. I feel they are following Monster Hunter World direction, that game didn't show HUD or actually how the game loop truly is in the trailer, but focus on the cinematic fight, the people that will buy MH will buy MHW, what their target is to expand to bigger audience, rope them in, and make them get used to the HUD when in game. This trailer and promotion is never about targeting the old fans, so the "a lot of people (The one that played AC before)" which isn't a lot, it's about targeting and luring new user in, propel the series to elden ring & MHW scale

On one hand I get it, given the HUD has been praised for its design by some like Vaati, so it's an odd decision to just not outright show that when they show other marketing material of multiple Armored Core builds just fine. On the other hand, going in mmostly blind on a game with getting just enough insight on what could work, but be surprised at what it offers ultimately as you go along is one way to make quite a difference for gamers to experience a game, especially with Armored Core being the type of franchise most would not remember or even know about (like me) except those dedicated to FromSoftware's early days, where the franchise has changed its gameplay from time to time anyway. Also I'll just be frank here: pre-ordering games no matter who the dev is is probably not a good idea precisely because even with games that have seemingly good marketing material, it's still another thing entirely to play it and experience it with your own hands and eyes.

@@autotropicplaybench1819 tbh I get the decision that they don't want to show it more, it attract smooth brain easily so they aren't intimidated by the HUD People that play souls or AC would be fine with it regardless anyway And yea I never pre order even if the game or dev got good rep, I just wait when it came and proven to work well, but not everyone is like that, that's why the practice work and profitable anyway (looking at FIFA to even work and profit a lot every year)

@@jacqli9315 The comparison to MHW's promo makes a lot of sense now that I'm thinking about. But I think you misunderstood me when I said "a lot of people" I meant just the fact that we saw no HUD. I wasn't talking about just old AC fans.

I won't know for sure until I play it, but I don't care too much for hard lock. If it's just a 'prioritize this enemy' for your FCS that's fine, but I don't want the game handling camera control for me because keeping the enemy in your sights is part of gameplay. building an AC that's fast enough to avoid your enemies lockbox was a viable strategy

I've Been playing AC games since the PS2. I have no problems with any of the changes, the game looks like really good fun, and that is all I wanted.

Honestly it seems the Soft and Hard lock seems fine. As someone who has played the PS2 games, the controls are really something not to write home about. Sure it's the charm of some people or niche part of the fandom, but I would like to have an AC where you can dynamically traverse the battlefield without worrying too much on your energy consumption or micro-managing the littlest of things.

The thing with people complaining about these new features and how theyre gonna make the game "easier" is they are forgetting this is FROMSOFT. They will just balance the game around the mechanics they are using, and make the game more challenging to compensate. This is not just AC3 but with lock-on, it's AC6. Armored Core has always iterated its design and adjusted accordingly for new features.

As a long time AC pilot, starting with the first game, i have learned to tryout the new mechanics before i come to a conclusion. Thats why i so overly enjoyed Verdict day.

I don’t like the lock . They made it 2 ez . I would luv a formula front style with look control on the right analog . This won’t be good on a 1v1… I like the way how they take the hits and how the game looks tho

@@mori7644 Then it sounds like Armored Core fans don't want their game to succeed, a game franchise needs to change and innovate over time otherwise it will remain stagant and die. From what I saw in this video, the changes made have made the game more new player friendly in respect to adding features similar to games like Sekiro, Dark Souls, and Nier. One of the things that has kept me and I'm sure many other people from getting into the series is the overcomplication, so a slightly simplified system makes getting into the game more new player friendly. Fans gatekeeping how the game "should" be only hurts this experience. As someone who has never played an AC game, this looks really good and I actually want to play it!

​@@CertifiedSunsetwe don't mind the game changing in fact the game has changed quite a bit between the iterations with some gripes. But the core mechanics and how you control and interact in the world is always been very similar with them again. Some had more or less flying in them some had higher speeds than others and some had slightly better lock on systems than others but for the most part it was you controlling the mech

Looks like a great game, but I am certainly very disappointed that I'm not really getting the mech game I'm looking for. There's always Piranha Games, I suppose, and I think they might make something good with MechWarrior 6. Mods for MechWarrior 5 that are in-development are also nice to have. Hopefully ports for previous AC games end up happening so that previous games are more accessible.

I'm playing through AC3, and I'm using mouse to aim. Very fun game, but I would not play it without a mouse. Hard lock on is a welcome addition to AC6, although I'll be playing that with mouse too, so it doesn't concern me either way.
