My roommate has played all the ones previous and basically has told me you hang out in the garage and tune your mech for 45 minutes and then finally go out only to get wrecked in 2 minutes and then back to the garage

Animations are Fromsofts specialty. Everytime I see a soulsclone, something always feels janky or off about it, and then I realize it's because the animations aren't near the level as anything Fromsoft makes. I remember the first time I saw boss in Elden Ring, I was blown away by just the animations alone. I couldn't believe how detailed they were.

17:30 that super complicated stats was always in the series. Don't be overwhelmed by it. Sooner or later new pilots feel is the most important to look at it. You can do tons of build in this, is what makes our build special and differentiate to other ravens.

Stagger used to just be a thing that happened to you with no build-up. A weapon either staggered or didn’t, so the build up mechanic feels like a logical evolution.

Weapons had hidden stagger values iirc. High impact weapons like Bazookas had high stagger values and thus more noticeable especially if you had low stability.

There's also heat feature back then, weapon that has heat would build up and make you more likely to take stagger if you recieve damage

38:01 speaking of insane hitboxes, I believe what you're seeing here is the AC barely missing the actual blade of the energy weapon the tetrapod uses, and instead is passing through the trail left behind by the sword. Absolutely sick.

So, full Melee builds in Armor core are possible but very impractical for some situations. Like in one mission you may have to kill a bunch of Enemy AC's and in another you have to stop a Air Invasion. Edit: Just got AC6 and sadly you cant go full melee. I am sad.

Dark Souls 1 is a Metroidvania that allows some measure of exploration, but it still has it's barred routes, their keys and it's fairly linear progression. It's not an open world. Thats just how good it feels cohesively as one big location.

You've always been able to change parts... they've just casualized this to save time and forgive players for failing. In the past you restart a mission after leaving it and then re-equip to start over which is a bit more immersive.

They may put an option to either start from a checkpoint or start from the beginning of the mission.

@@TheEnergizingbunny i think he was pointing out that it takes away from the overall difficulty by them adding starting from a checkpoint. however, since these levels are said to be a lot larger and lot longer in scope, checkpoints were just needed since your ammo and hp won't last for a long ass mission. So that's why they added ammo and hp regen packs as well. but this also pisses some purists off. but people don't realize this video was just highlights. yongyea pointed out that the dev actually died numerous times and didn't even get past that boss. so the difficulty is still there but it seems to be mainly in the mini bosses and bosses.

@@destroyerinazuma96 Would be interesting and maybe even satisfy the purist if they added a difficulty option that would require you to restart the whole missions to remake your build and ration ammo and hp. I honestly believe they will do just that too, possible to unlock specialized gear which would be an interesting way to invest and get better overall.

From the sounds of it, the sorties are going to be significantly longer than they typically were in the previous titles. So it's not a terrible idea, and noone is forcing you to restart from the checkpoint. Plus facerolling repeatedly is s great way to go into massive debt. Unless they decided to not let your balance go negative too.

It's fun to see gameplay of a reasonably nimble middleweight bipedal but I want to see some fringe builds. Will heavyweights have sweet armor like in gen 5? Will reverse lights spring into the air like in Gen 4? I'm okay with some of the aerial combat simulator mechanics disappearing if there is still some mechanical diversity but we see SIGNS of the game being dumbed down in tragic ways. FROM might surprise us still but for veterans AC turning into DXM is like a nightmare and I think they know that well.

The series has had Jammer parts that do that, they shoot or deploy EM fields that disrupt either targeting, kill incoming missiles guidance systems, the mechs lock-on or even hinder movement like slowing down turning performance or even malfunction on the generators or boosters. Not only that but theres types of damage depending of what the weapons fire, like bullets and missiles that have better impact force to stagger, heat rounds that melt armor, and lasers or EM rounds overheat systems wich forces the mech into a hard cooldown that shuts down boosters and energy usage until the cooldown ends. And well every mech part has different resistances that help you against those effects. But idk if they will bring back radiator parts that helped with cooldowns.

@30:00 This is very important.. As someone who played every single AC game, and hates souls games.. I want a sequel. Valkyrie Profile is another major illustration of this point. Every valk game allowed the player to attack with the 4-man team by way of the 4 button presses: allowing the player to create their own combos by having characters attack when the player wants them to. The new valk game is NOT a sequel, it's just piggy backing on the franchise name, but a completely different game. Valkyrie Profile: Silmaria might end up being the last good valk game, and our long awaited sequel for that got flushed. Armored Core is one of my most beloved titles, to see that it might hold true to the things I loved about the game brings me joy. Also, if they put micro-transactions in AC6, we riot... :p One cool thing about older AC games was that you might fight a boss mech with really cool parts, that you would then earn after you beat them.. "new boss parts" was such a great reward that I surely hope they include again.

different components definitely alter gameplay significantly. You can equip 4 legs. You will become slower and less mobile. But you can equip lots of heavy hitting weaponry.

I wonder if they could later allow you to choose. Like they release the game, gauge ppl's interest then drop an expansion. The more casual crowd would have had time to get more familiar with the game and might become more open to a bit of extra complexity, while the more purist crowd that had been waiting for the change would purchase the game now that their expectations have been met. Imho there is a genuine possibility to just add "old school" mechanics later and simply allow ppl to choose.
