03:53 Live a Live was actually only Yoko Shimomura's first RPG score, she actually started her career at Capcom where she primarily worked on more action-oriented games for a couple of years. It's because she wanted to compose for an RPG which is why she left for Square. She has also composed the soundtrack of Street Fighter II, arguably one of the most iconic video game OSTs of all time, which isn't mentioned that often when talking about her works oddly enough. That might be another reason why the Present Day chapter is strikingly strongly inspired by Street Fighter, especially with the track "Knock You Down" by the way.

Capcom sound team is composed of mostly women at the time. Credit is not really given to most of them. Yoko Shinomura got famous and credit is recognized. But with pseudonym and in ports they go uncredited with their early works and recognition for them takes decades.

I'm really happy you made this video. Live A Live might have become one of my favorite games of all time. I love its structure, its different gimmicks and the payoffs to all things scattered throught the entire package. While I would say that I do wish some scenarios were more longer than what they are, this is a game I'm glad its mostly a 20 hour long adventure, because there's a lot of secrets to be found and it's great that it's replay value is so accessible on that regard, especially for us gamer adults. This is one of the best surprises I experienced this year and its one that will stick with me for years to come.

Oh, fun tid bit: Hironobu Kageyama, the guy who sang Go Go Steel Titan, also sang the opening to multiple popular anime including the original Dragon Ball Z, One Punch Man, and the mecha anime Mazinger Z which the Near Future chapter has a lot of similarities to

I have beaten the Prehistoric era and Imperial China. I'm now trying my hand at the Twilight Edo of Japan. And...I gotta say I'm falling off this game hard. Japan is turning me off this game hard with how complex this era is. Not sure if I want to kill everyone or go through the effort of being a pacifist. Got any advice?
@indiejacob2 жыл бұрын
Definitely don't bother killing everyone. Either do a pacifist run or do half and half. I made the mistake of going around and fighting everything I could and I couldn't have hated it more.

@@indiejacob Will do. Honestly, it just doesn't seem worth it. I kinda of just wanna get through it so I can move on to more interesting Chapters like the Wild West and the Present Day. Thanks!

I recommend just killing what enemies are inconvenient; pacifist and all kills have a lot of backtracking and the latter in particular practically demands a guide. Just find your way to the goal.

never liked how humans and enemies are in such different art styles in games like this. keeping it consistent would be more interesting.

For the original they actually employed different manga artists for the character designs in each scenario, was probably a pretty big deal.

@@Mimi.1001 by all means give them a cool portrait sprite or something, introduction, whatever. but then keep the actual battle sprite consistent with the scale and style of the rest of the world.

I got no beef with these games "ones like this and OT that look like a SNES game". But I just don't agree with them being full price, or over $30 tbh.
