I had a 1958 omega Seamaster it had the Goldflled case, I made several videos of it some years ago. Unfortunately from the previous owner it had 2 cracked bridges and I sold it as is. Perfect condition otherwise no wear on the case but it had a crack on the crystal so that would have had to be replaced. Looking at some of the prices for the omega constellations from about 1967 the prices are skyrocketing

Always appreciate your videos. Just a point that I'd like to ask: at 5:17 you mentioned that on 'dials with luminous' there would be no 'T' between the 'swiss made' should it be 'dials without luminous' instead? Thank you for taking the time to make these vids!
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel 3 жыл бұрын
I've made a few videos in the past explaining that. T stands for Tritium. At the end of 1962 Omega started using Tritium. Therefore, you will begin to see T's on the dial starting in late 1962. Before that, there shouldn't be any T as the luminous was Radium based.

Gorgeous Omega watches. What is the difference between gold capped and gold filled?
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Gold capped is normally a layer of gold over steel and you would have a steel case back. Gold filled is a mix of gold with other metal content and the whole watch including the back will be gold filled. Gold filled normally context about 10% of actual gold.

Do most vintage 1950s omega come with radium dials (lume)?
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel 2 жыл бұрын
1962 onward is when many watch companies stopped using radium and replaced with Tritium. I have conducted a test in a small 100-150 sq/ft room with 100 radium pieces. A week average result shows a little over 50 bq/m3 on my radon reader. That is under the safe level. So if you're going to wear a radium watch around your house, the radon released is not enough to harm the hair on your wrist. :-)
