Can the P1p and its slicer be used off line "no internet"? Some videos on youtube seem to say you have to be on line and use the cloud service others seem to say you can operate the printer and slicer with out a internet connection. What did you find to be true. Thank you for the video.
@Craftknights3D
@Craftknights3D Жыл бұрын
You need a WiFi connection to start a print job remotely. But you can use the printer entirely offline with an SD card too. You don't need an internet connection to run the printer as far as I know.

@@Craftknights3D Thank you so much. I have WiFi and SD cards, but internet is spotty out in the sticks where I live so just wanted to be sure I could use the system.
@shawnhicks619

@@Robothut they have enabled direct connection printing where you directly send the print to the printer over your network. However I haven’t used that feature. I have used the cloud service but as the printer is 4 steps away from my slicer computer and it’s much faster to load gcode directly to the sd card and start printing.

Is the app required for this printer to function? While I like being able to remotely control it if it requires the app to function that's probably a dealbreaker for me.
@Craftknights3D

No. You can still simply use an SD card instead.

7:44 that’s only partly true. There are already 3rd party offerings on ali e, and there are even some venders offerings side pannels. I think this will grow extensively, given some time..

There is a problem if you like to modify your printer and get independent parts as they are locked down and not open source, also it is early days yet to see how long they will stay in business and supply parts.
@shawnhicks619
@shawnhicks619 Жыл бұрын
This may be true, however if you head over to Bambus web page this question is specifically addressed. They made choices to have proprietary parts and they explain why. They further explain that should they fold as a company they intend to release patents to open source so another company could produce parts to maintain printers in use.

What about when something you can't replace breaks? Are you willing to send the machine to China, and wait at least two months for it's return? Are you okay with not having the printer for a long period of time while it's being repaired?
@Craftknights3D
@Craftknights3D Жыл бұрын
I understand your concerns and I have mentioned in the review that you can only get replacement parts from Bambu Lab themselves. I personally really enjoy tinkering on my 3D printers. I even build my own Voron. So I don´t like that Bambu has so many unique parts. However, replacement parts from third party sellers are already avaleable and most issues can still be fixed with some knowledge of 3D printers and with the help of the internet. Because the P1P and X1C community is already quite big and there is a lot of helpful information from third parties out there that will help you with pretty much any issue. So While I don´t like that Bambu Lab is a closed system it should not be a big issue.

What American made 3D printer do you recommend? Does it even remotely come close to the same ease of use and capabilities (and similar price). What American made 3D printers do you currently have? Would you recommend any of them? I have the American made Makerbot, and it is super overpriced garbage, and doesn't work at all any more.
@corlissmedia2.0
@corlissmedia2.0 Жыл бұрын
@@ElectroBlep I believe it was an American company that came up with the idea of a 3D printer. From there, commerce took its course with a lot of help from republicans.

I worked with a makerbot before and didn`t like it at all. I personally don`t own any American made 3D printer and don`t know any good American made 3D printer either. If you want a 3D printer that is Not from China then I can highly recommend Prusa. But their printers are also quite expencive. But also very reliable.

The P1P needs to be around $499. At present, it makes sense to just get the X1C. Let’s be honest… You’re going to eventually get the AMS…and of course, a camera and then lights…and then the hours and hours you’re going to spend on panels. Trust me, you want panels. By the time you’re done all that you are probably less than $150 +/- away. Seriously, just save up longer and get the X1C….

The X1 carbon is better than the P1P but I still think that it is a good thing that Bambu Lab gives you the choice to buy a cheaper printer with fewer features for those who simply can´t afford the X1 carbon. I am currently working on a Video where I upgrade the P1P with a custom enclosure for about 50$. This will allow you to print ABS, ASA and other plastics that require a enclosure to print properly.

I see lots of complaints about the noise they produce. Apperently I’m deaf, old, or both because I work 8-10 hours in a shop with multiple p1ps running and it doesn’t bother me. However the resin printers are kinda annoying, far more so then the p1ps.
