Leaving the legion of honor out of the museum list is wiiiild. It’s by far the best in the city with an absolutely incredible view and collection. Great on Saturdays, when they play the organ that’s built into the entire museum. It’s eerie in the best way

@@uhhh5570 i think when compared to China Town, it's a lot less fleshed out and impactful. And overall less impactful culture wise to SF than the Castro, which he was ranking them against. I think the priority on Chinatown and Northbeach over Japantown etc. is right for most tourists.

My husband and i just visited San Francisco for a week. ,the weather was great, sunny everyday and no fog. We walked on the bridge , luckily it wasn't crowded at all, great views .it's noisy of course as traffic zooms by but it's a neat experience. Its the Golden Gate Bridge after all😊 There are frequent buses at the visitors center which are helpful in getting around.

He doesn't say "ignore the GG bridge" but accurately states that it's a trek to get there and it's fogged in for much of the year. And if you're on the bridge, the views OF THE BRIDGE are less spectacular than they'd be from either Crissy Field or Baker Beach. I'd argue that this is also true for the Eiffel Tower. You don't have go on it to see it. However: I DO recommend BIKING the bridge to Sausalito, if that's a destination anyway.

I am British, and I lived in the Bay Area for two years (in Burlingame ) from 2015-2017. Your list, and your recommendations, are spot on, although I personally adore the de Young museum, and am less amoured with sports stadia. Besides, Oracle Park just doesn't measure up to Wrigley Field in Chicago. GO CUBS GO! I was back in San Francisco in the summer of 2023, and again in December of that year. I was shocked to see how the city had declined since Covid - as evidenced in your video. I simply wouldn't bother going to the shopping district anymore, there are more empty shops than there are occupied ones. And there is a very evident homelessness problem. Empty shops, people needing homes, the solution seems obvious, but the city so far hasn't put 2 + 2 together.

If you're a tourist my top tips are 1) Don't cram too much into a day, being in a hurry in SF sucks. 2) Rent an E-bike, that's the ultimate way to get around the city WAY faster than cars. 3) Golden Gate Park should be where you spend the most time; the Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers, DeYoung Museum, Academy of Sciences, and just the trails off in the trees are all amazing. 4) Bring a puffer jacket stuffed in your bag, we aren't joking about the cold on most days. 4) I think Fort Funston is the best beach, and it's paradise for dogs.

Coit Tower goes up to A tier if you take the elevator up to look at the WPA murals and the panoramic views. Other museums that you didn’t mention but are well worth a visit: Legion of Honor (Lands End/Lincoln Park, S tier) Musée Mecanique (Fisherman’s Wharf, A tier) Maritime Museum (Fisherman’s Wharf, B tier) Asian Art Museum (Civic Center, B tier) Other landmarks worth seeing if time allows: Grace Cathedral (Nob Hill) Bernal Hill (Bernal Heights) Crissy Field (Marina/Presidio) Day trip suggestion: Marin Headlands. Takes you over the GG bridge, there’s a vista point on the Marin side with better views of the bridge than the SF side, and there’s lots of cool other stuff to see when you get there. There might even be a Muni bus that goes there on weekends, not sure if that’s still the case though.

In museums, you forgot the Legion of Honor. It's actually a better experience than the DeYoung Museum. Maybe not for tourists and/or close enough to downtown, but I like Funston Beach, John McLaren Park, Mount Sutro Hiking Area and the residential areas around it. Muir Woods is a much better experience if you visit on a weekday when its not crowded. Even on a Sunday, if you get the first reservation slot of the morning, you can show up up to 30 minutes before that first reservation time and you will have the place completely to yourself for 30-60 minutes before people start really coming in. Also if you're able, you technically can visit without a reservation. You can park at Pantoll Campground or Bootjack and hike in, its only like 3-5 miles and it's a gorgeous hike. If you want a much longer and even more beautiful hike, you can even park at Stinson Beach and hike from there.

Hey, Adam! A really fun video. You know me, I consume all content SF. Always trying to get ideas. We were here for music March 8th weekend, this past weekend, and will be there on Easter (to pick up our Navy son flying into SFO). On the 1st, we are taking him and his girlfriend to Bodega Bay for the day. Bodega Bay is a must-visit, too. Anyhoo, yeah, as many times as we have traveled to the city since 2020, we've never done the cable car, visited Pier 39, or gone to Alcatraz, and not into museums. 🤷♂ I agree with the Ferry Building. There is a lot to explore there. We recently saw DreamState at the Palace of Fine Arts. Did you know the PFA once housed the Exploratorium? Love the Haight/Ashbury. Fun Fact. The Haight Street Market used to be a Rexal Drug Store way back in the day, that my grandfather owned. He was a pharmacist. My mother was born in SF. Once the hippies came around, my grandfather packed up with the family and moved to Pebble Beach where he then bought the Rexal Drug in Pacific Grove. I was born in Carmel. You have footage of the Love on Haight store. I have bought a few "rave" pants there. ☮ No mention of Hayes Valley. When staying in Japantown, for a music event at GGP, one weekend, we ventured into Hayes Valley. It was so alive! Just bustling. So, not like downtown/financial district. Had a cocktail at Smugglers Cove, and then dinner at Chez Mamon Cafe. Thanks, again!

The former is a national park, and the latter is a building. I appreciate you trying to streamline things here, but we did find that confusing and misleading. Also: as a resident of the neighborhood directly between both the Presidio and Golden Gate Park, I found your omission of the Richmond District a bit sad. I think this is a good proof of concept but as an SF native kinda feel like some interesting decisions were made. First, I understand not naming a bunch of specific restaurants, but at least categorizing and including some would’ve been good. SF has a lot of classics that could easily be piled together (Mission style burritos, dim sum, pizza, etc). Also, Golden Gate Park is great but there’s so many things to do within that slapping an S on it and moving on feels like an oversimplification. Also, ik the ferry building farmers market got a mention, but so should all the other ones. Clement st. comes to mind. Also MANY neighborhoods were left out, especially ones that probably should’ve been ranked next to each other given their appeal to similar types of people. Including Berkeley as a nearby tourist destination is also puzzling as there’s plenty of other spots (Marin Headlands, Monterey Bay, Big Sur, heck even Stanford). Never even touched nightlife either which is a huge draw especially for some neighborhoods that may have or have not been mentioned. 4 years in is a good start.
