Your videos are great. I agree about the ferry having some of the best views of the city. Seattle ferry’s are great too.

I love your videos with the positive, upbeat attitude! Native San Franciscan who loves the transit! Agree that you missed the muni metro (take it to the zoo and ride the steam train) and the trolley buses (the 1-California is my bus - it takes an awesome route through Chinatown and over Nob hill, but even the 22, the 6, the 24, with hills comparable to cable cars and the 49 with its new BRT lanes all have their charms!)

I was lucky enough to have a really good friend go to visit the brewery with his pals. I had just had a kid so he didn’t extend the invitation for me to go, but he did come back with a bottle for me of the younger. It’s an incredible beer.

Another enjoyable and car-decentering video that showcases what there is to do and love in the Bay Area. Have you seen the recent Netflix show A Man on the Inside? There was an episode that felt right in line with your videos, showing all that SF has to offer and enjoy. I also love seeing the Oakland Ferry terminal, I ride it often for the little short hop to Alameda for my commute! And +1 to the other comments also about missing the underground Muni, the N Judah line being one I loved taking all the way across to Golden Gate Park. I like to think you are just building up some buzz for the eventual Exploratorium video. If you ever do make one, I highly recommend going with some old/new friends who have younger kids. I have a three year old and a newborn, and the older one just lights up when we go, in part due to the very exciting and fun bike/ferry ride to get there! Showing her all the exhibits captures this wonderful aspect of parenting: www.smbc-comics.com/comic/2013-09-08

The Old Emporium store way back before it closed and remodeled into the mall had a carnival on the roof top every Christmas holiday. It was pretty cool at the time.

Seeing that fare add up makes me glad Portland basically has one fare to do everything. $2.80 gets you a 2.5hr pass for bus, light rail, WES commuter rail, streetcar, and connections to CTRAN across the river, and $5.60 gets you the day pass for everything. Of course, our system is definitely weaker (just look at our peak-hours-weekday-only commuter rail) but hey, at least it's fairly cheap

A fun video. Like you, Adam, I have never ridden a S.F. cable car but it's on my list. You mentioned that riders can get on and off the cars. I have heard there are no on and off privileges; riders must get a new ticket each time they board. Did you get on and off during your trip? Do they check tickets? Finally, can you you a Clipper card to buy a ticket on a cable car? Anyway, I love your videos and look forward to each one. Cheers/Rob

While those streetcars that go down Market Street and to Fisherman's Wharf are part of the MUNI, I don't really think of them as light rail. The other MUNI trains that go under Market/Central Subway and around other parts of town I think of as another transit method. I see you mentioned you kept them as one method because they both use the MUNI name. Nah. If they consolidated other modes of transit (BART, Caltrain, etc.) and then gave it all the MUNI name, that doesn't cut it. Now that I think about it, the bus and cable cars are also part of the MUNI system.

Like others have said, the cable cars are awesome if you take the California line. I’ve used it to commute and there are no tourists. Also, visit the Cable Car Museum. It houses the actual machinery that moves the cables and it’s worth seeing.

I once backpacked 100 miles thru the Santa Cruz mountains to the Sea and back when I was 14. I wasn't a bad person I just wanted to go so bad and knew my parents wouldn't let me do that solo. None of my friends were into backpacking. I was too young to register my trip and only now do I realize how dangerous what I did was. I was sleeping on the ground without a tent and a mountain lion came and stuck its nose in the top of my sleeping bag. It sneezed and I was baptized in mountain lion boogers. I just froze and it left. All night long deer were tromping around freaking me out. Like you sounds like I'm complaining yet it was the best experience of my young life even with getting lost out in a rainstorm on the return trip which was not scheduled on the weather. I was amazed at all your high-tech comfort though like the fresh coffee. I traveled for 6 days on nutrition bars and a sack of trail mix. Your video is great. You are an excellent presenter and your sense of humor is great too.

Something I learned about Colma was because the city had such large budget surpluses they legally had to spend some of it and the City used that money to pay everyone’s cable bill in Colma.

The rumors and whispers of San Francisco's demise have often occurred but have never come to be. Also, a not fun fact, effing red states like Texas and Florida have been bussing their homeless to California and New York and similar for months. Yeah, not cool.

Hate to be the guy, but not only would I classify the historic streetcars as a different mode (from MUNI light rail), but I'd also add the SFO AirTran (It's technically in SF), as well as the Trolleybuses.

The California Street Cable Car is usually has no line. It takes you from Embarcadero to Van Ness Ave. It is a good way to go from the Ferry Building to Chinatown.

I'll add to the chorus that points out that historic streetcars and Muni Metro light rail are thought of as two separate services. I might count them as 1.5 because they can share the same rails (for instance, the F historic streetcar takes the J light rail line back to the car barn). But the historic streetcars can't use the Market Street tunnel because the platforms don't line up. Yeah, I know, it's a technicality. You technically succeeded. If you wanted to count the 48 ride in your trip, there's a lot of places to check out in Dogpatch before getting on Caltrain. And oh yeah a good way to avoid or reduce the cable car wait is to take the California Street line instead of the two Powells. But you can't get there from Fisherman's Wharf without a long uphill walk (which I've done, mind you, just sayin').

Another Awesome Adam Adventure in the beautiful iconic city. Although you forgot to ride one of the *Muni Metro* lines which was the *actual Light Rail.* The F-Line isn't what I would call a light rail but a vintage or historic streetcar/trolley. Either way great adventure video as always😀👍💯

Idk… when I moved to Boston for school, despite the T system breaking down often, especially when the tunnel was shut down. What I loved most was that the monthly or weekly pass had unlimited rides. I kind of wish we had something like that here. I would prefer just one rate with unlimited rides in the Bay Area!

In middle school, I used to take the cable car all the time! My grandparents lived at the corner of Vallejo and Mason, I miss those days. Now I live in Napa and used to drive to El Cerrito for BART, but nowadays, I don’t feel safe, so I just take the ferry from Vallejo.

Love your channel and a new subbie going through your back catalog. Grew up in the SF Bay Area and miss it to this day. Your channel should have at least 100K more subscribers, but I have been liking everything I watch to try to better influence the YT algorithm. Sorry to see that Oakland lost all of its sports teams and hope you can find that battle of the Bay hat. I lived about 2 hours southish but mostly east of Oakland and thought for sure that the Bay Area had dropped into the ocean on October 17, 1989 during that Battle of the Bay when all of the SF stations went to snow on air and we felt the earthquake roll through pretty damn well here in the San Joaquin Valley. It sloshed the water out of my young daughter's wading pool. More recently my husband and I have taken BART from the Pleasanton station to do the Antiquarian Book Fair. So much fun for this uni-trained Historian in the City. Thank for sharing your fine videos, kind sir.
