Thanks for posting. Back when I worked for the Santa Fe Southern Rwy in New Mexico, I swapped out the horn on one of the locomotives with my personal old cast P3, SP heritage. There are actually some images and videos of Locomotive 93 with my horn. When I left that railroad, I took my horn with me of course!

Awesome! A 20K serial tag would date that horn to some time in the second half of the 1990s. Where it came from is anyone's guess, unless there's some original RR paint underneath. P horns are just about the most efficient when it comes to air use. M horns are the worst followed by most of the Leslies. The 5 chime Ks are also pretty air hungry. Mike does fantastic work. He brought an original Coaster cab car horn off the 2302 that I have back from the dead. It was completely corroded and the 5 bell power chamber had a thick crack all the way through. You will not be disappointed.

Okay cool! Thanks for the info, I was wondering when this horn was from. I still am amazed at how loud this horn is for how little air it uses. And yes, I've heard amazing things about Mr. Muha. Seems he can fix any problem with any horn.

Yeessss! Man I love the old cast P3! reminds me of the good ol' days of the southern pacfiic! The thumbnail was right for the horn being the voice of southern pacific.

Awesome video! Always cool to see and hear how a new horn sounds.

Thanks so much! I agree, hearing a new horn for the first time is always a rush. Makes me grin like a little kid.

Haha! Most of the houses in my neighborhood are AirBNBs and since the people that stay in them like to party all night, a little air chime music won't hurt. ;)

I love it, that is outstanding how we just have to figure out how to get it on the top of your car

Would you happen to know what an 80k New Cast would be from or what year?
@TrainTrackTrav Жыл бұрын
Not 100% sure, but I would say that an 80k would be pretty new. My guess would be post 2010, but I'm not quite sure on an exact year. My 20k is from the mid 90s for what that's worth.

:-) that nondynamic Cargill GP9 with the torpedo tanks -- former SF Peninsula commuter?

That locomotive was the old Cargill 305. I miss seeing her at the grain facility there in Verdemont, CA. She's actually an ex-Northern Pacific unit.
