I got a chance to drive this exact car (I met Jeff at the track as the fellow RX-8 owner), and it is an excellent package. It's something that I intend to build after I get sick of the rotary issues. While the shifter isn't as slick as the factory trans, that's the only real gripe with the whole car. Other than that, the power is excellent and the chassis feels very similar overall. I both want to let the world know that this exists because it is spectacular, and I also want to keep it a secret. Andrew is a very generous guy with his time, and I'm concerned that if his company expands to needing more people, he won't be able to support his customers in the way that he wants to. Overall, if you are going to spend 20k-ish on a dual-duty track/street car, I don't think there is a better car out there.

Thanks for the kind words, Thomas! As demand has increased over the years, the wait times may be longer (and continue to increase), but I have full intention on keeping the in house builds and DIY kits as a personal as possible. Relations with clients, like the one I built with Jeff, have more value in my eyes than expanding a business to the point when I can no longer offer that form of experience.

I just picked up a LFX swapped RX-8 from Keisler Automation last week. Randy is not exaggerating when he says this is one of the best chassis of all time. The LFX V6 is exactly what the RX-8 needed. The car remains balanced, has great low end torque and still keeps a decently high red line. They have a great website that shows the specs of the RX-8 chassis and other benefits of the LFX swap compared to 911, Corvette, 350z and other cars from the same era as the RX-8. Keisler also has bespoke suspension upgrades and other stuff for RX-8 and Miata on the site. Andrew was a pleasure to work with, was responsive to questions and went above and beyond to get the swap completed through the pandemic and supply chain slowdowns. I really can't say enough good things about Andrew Keisler and the work that Keisler Automation does. I hope this doesn't sound like an ad for the shop, I'm just a happy customer that likes to give credit where its due.

Of all the stupid swaps people do on RX-8s, this one actually makes the most sense. But I would still stick with the rotary myself. I would swap to the REW from the Renesis though. I've been hooked since my first RX3 back in 1985. If done up properly, it will blow the doors off that V6. But you do lose streetability. But for racing, not much can touch a wankel.

I'm the original owner and glad to see this being used for what it was intended to be used for (a practical daily-driven race car). The original engine was a Renesis modified with rotors machined to fit RC-7 FD apex seals and had a Lysholm Twin-screw supercharger pulleyed at 14-15 psi of boost. It was making around 330 rwhp. I can't say it was a reliable setup, as I only had maybe 13K miles with it before it became a garage queen that I'd fire up periodically, but this certainly looks like it will be reliable long-term and probably easier on the wallet from a fuel consumption perspective. A very awesome ride. Check my channel for some old dyno videos and some autocross events with this same car.

An LV3 could've possibly been even better. Lower CG, potentially less weight, and more potential power if you build it like David Vizard would. That platform can get at least 400whp on stock displacement, especially being manual, and I reckon it could push 450whp if you give it the same bore as its LT1 big brother in addition to a David Vizard spec cam and head work. 400-450whp in an engine that weighs around 350lbs or less is killer. After that all you'd need to make it sound insane are equal-length stepped headers, and an equal-length stepped Y pipe dual 2.5" into a single 3.5" back to the axle, where you can then split it back into dual 2.5 for the exits and tips setup. Should scream almost like a Stratos with a 6-into-1 header. Or like Boosted Boiz "Razzle Dazzle" turbo J35 sandrail.

@Bandit5317 Жыл бұрын
I don't say this lightly, but the wizard has incomplete information on these engines. He lumped the entire GM 3.6 high-feature line of engines together for timing chain issues. That issue was fixed with the LFX (2013+ 3.6). You still need to regularly check your oil level and replace more often than the GM recommended interval (every 5k miles is fine), but that's true of any performance engine.

I liked this Rx-8 a lot, but he said he wanted more power and the solution for him was to change the engine, and these rotary engines just with a reprogramming in the engine ECU would increase the power to at least 290 HP easy, and the car It would be much lighter still.
