You'd be surprised. Many years ago, I was head of housekeeping at a luxury hotel chain in the south eastern US. One day I was talking to one of the heavyset black ladies who worked in the laundry room and the subject of our favorite TV shows came up. Hers was "Are You Being Served?" I only mention her size and color because it speaks to the old maxim - "Never judge a book by its cover". I know I never would have guessed her favorite show without the chat we had.

I doubt it. I have been a fan of UK media since I was teen, and no once have I use UK specific terms in my daily life. The closest thing is pronouncing Z as Zed on occasions but only for the person I'm talking to looking at me weird and then going back to Z.

He does know it, it's a mixture of improv, planned jokes and surprises. Karl knows he's funny but he's good at making it look natural. But the difference is between Karl and others that do this, is his actual personality is more or less the same. I'd say on radio/TV he is just an exaggerated version of himself.
