40% of the pilots are earning less than 65000 cad per year. When half earned than US pilots is mentioned keep in mind that salary. 4-6 year flat pay. That’s 46000 USD per year as a legacy airline pilot!

I make more as a bus driver. And my training was paid. I got my PPL with the idea of switching careers, but the pay cut to become a professional pilot, while spending the money to become a pilot, makes the switch not financially feasible.

If AC is making record profits then they should rightfully compensate their employees (pilots and others) but not by shifting the cost to consumer. I travel quite a bit and AC has always the most expensive fares which is forcing us to look for competitor as an option. It is a catch 22, fare are higher people will fly with another airline leaving AC to cut cost somewhere if it is not in their profit.

When you have an entitled public who thinks air travel is a right, and not a privilege - you are facing an uphill battle when it comes to fair collective bargaining. Air Canada is a great company to work for, I wish all the success to the pilots in their negotiations.

I work in corporate for a grocery chain and it drives me nuts how disconnected from reality people here are with what our store employees are dealing with. It appears to be the same almost everywhere, and it certainly appears to be the same with Air Canada. We all know where the profits go, and who should be getting a bigger cut of the success. I wish these pilots all the best and may they succeed in getting the compensation they deserve.

While I may not possess the qualifications for a position at Mainline AC, I do have 1,000 hours of experience, completed ATPL exams, and hold a Class 3 Instructor rating. Despite these credentials, transitioning to an airline career remains challenging due to the insufficient pay. As someone in my early 30s with familial responsibilities - including a spouse, child, and a home - it's essential to secure a wage that can sustain my family. Rather than a shortage of pilots, there is a surplus of qualified individuals like myself who seek fair compensation reflecting our skills and commitments. It's crucial for us to receive just compensation for our expertise, comparable to other airlines south of the boarder.

My wife, friends & other family members have run into major issues. No one to call and don’t know where the hell customer service is. Whenever possible we cross the border to fly with US airlines that care for their passengers. Good luck great AC pilots and thank you.

What you're saying makes sense but also explains a lot as to why we are seeing so many young pilots showing up now at Air Canada. If all these studies claim that women earn less than men for the same job, is it implied that more women are being hired at Air Canada because they are cheaper labour? I find that DEI has also crept into the wokeness of the company. Most would agree that a pilot's qualifications are not based on their sex, race or religion and yet we are constantly bombarded with those warm and fuzzy images of that DEI push. Please also consider 'outting' that dangerous hiring practice because saving money by hiring desperate people who have no skill set or fortitude to handle task oriented realities when the time dictates it are putting lives in danger just to save money while looking like they actually care about people. Stay strong, stay proud and keep the blue side up.

I appreciate the services you do but... There are 3 carriers that leave Saskatchewan. Air Canada, WestJet and Sunwing. We all know what image the last one has recently, and WestJet is just mediocre. Air Canada the is the only really recognizable brand for a lot of people. However, Air Canada has been in a slump the last 10 years or so. I remember even before the pandemic they were having issues when WestJet was really picking up steam. Then the zombie apocalypse happened and the so-called "Customer Friendly" comparative WestJet just kind of skipped ahead of Air Canada in my books. I mean, I haven't seen much happen with Air Canada in the prairies other than taking almost a billion dollars from the pandemic. Air Canada has 3 points in Canada they fly to. WestJet has 6. Sunwing goes specifically to southern places so that's not really an option for anyone that isn't escaping -40C winters. If I want to go from Regina to Edmonton it is almost a 6 hour flight. Sometimes almost 12 hours with a layover IN VANCOUVER. Seriously... That's just stupid. It takes 9 hours to drive (and costs less in fuel). wth.

Will an increase in pilot wages get the plane there on time? Will it help with the safety? Please tell me how an increase in your wages helps with all that. 😂😂😂😂😂. What a joke. I care more about safety than I do about on time performance, many things happen behind the scenes that have nothing to do with pilots for on time performance, example, if their is a back up at the arriving airport, that airport will tell airlines to hold their take off or slow their flight on route, just one of many things that you are unaware of in daily operations, I want them to get paid equally with their US counter parts and not have high wages go to airline executives

@OfficialBigDaddyBC That's because you have 2 brain cells. I'll put it in simple words. There's a big difference between a happy pilot satisfied with his contract because he knows how much time and money he put into it, and a pilot still doing everything a professional USA pilot needs to do but earning less than half. Also, imagine always having to hear that the true reward of being a pilot is flying, while your neighbours over the USA are ALSO flying but earning x2 or x3 times. A professional fully trained pilot here in Canada can actually earn less than a server in the USA. Not even kidding.
