18:10 I'd say dead rising had a good way of implementing urgency, all objectives had a timeout, you could let sidestory stuff timeout without issue but if a main story objective timed out you'd get a message saying "the truth has been lost" or something like that, you can keep playing afterwards, but you won't have access to the rest of the story

All I can say about CP2077 is that I wish they pulled it off right. I saw so much potential in it. I had fun despite the bugs and glitches. It really felt like a game that got chopped in half. Like, it was going for something great, and then they were told to stop reaching and just release it to the public. The characters, the atmosphere, the music, and the combat (may not be revolutionary combat but a decent compliment), was what kept me playing. Pretty good story. Nothing that new if you know Cyberunk and Dystopian future stuff. It's just that it felt like the game I was actually hoping for for a very long time, despite under-delivering. But who knows, I might play it again once it gets fixed and improved (most likely by modders). And did I mention the music is fire? Did Max0r say that? Just making sure. Because I could listen to the music all day and get me pumped up even while eating breakfast or something.

I think they suffered extra hard from the syndrome of development knowledge. Same that slammed NMS or Star Citizen in the face. Because 8 years to make a game isn't that uncommon or weird, however what is weird is the situation where your players know the game is being developed for said 8 years. Normally you can somewhat manage expectations by just letting people know of the game a month or two before its release. They had no idea it existed before and therefore cannot build up any expectations for it. NMS, CP2077 or SC did let their customers know they were indeed working on it pretty much since the start, either by miscalculation (in the case of CDPR, thinking they would release way earlier) or in the case of NMS or SC because they had no choice. Now the diffrence is that CP was kind of sandwiched between having revealed their game too early and also having investors to please. While it does give them greater freedom than, lets say, being a studio under EA, once your investors think or want a project to start paying back, you have a gun to your head. NMS had the exact same problem with Sony, and had to tank the aweful release because there was honestly not a lot else they could do but release a broken game and hopefully pick themselves up way later down the line (which they surprisingly did). CDPR may try to do the same thing, however the largest issue is that investors will pressure you to move forward, instead of going back like hello games did and pain painstakingly fix the product in post until it fits your original intentions. Star Citizen has no publisher and no public investors, and made it clear from day one that they fully expected development creep to happen and that they would not put hard deadlines as a result. Depending on who you ask that is either a unique benefit or the worse of downsides, but one thing at least is clear is that regardless it allows a developer to NOT be forced to release something that is unfinished to please a third party you depend on. And yes, that also means that developers can and will try to do things "because it sounds cool and we probably can" even if it isn't strictly necessary and add more dev time. CDPR started doing that then as the pressure to release grew larger they had to stop slap dash in the middle of it and knit things back together before each individual component was ready. And that is bad. Because as long as your have minimal overhead (like in SC for example, constraining the alpha to a single system despite having shown and used finished assets for several other star systems) allows you to go back and massively improve, lets say, planetary tech, and being able to relatively easily implement that without shuffling things too much. Once you have tied everything down into a finished game, if you try to go back and massively scale things up, you will end up causing feedback loop in every single core system of your game and everything will break. TLDR: CDPR got stuck in between having the scope creep of SC in the start but then having to NMS rush it to release and not having the post-release freedom of action of neither of those.

Cyberpunk 2077 was published by CD PROJEKT, so I think it was less a matter of having to abide to a publisher and more a matter of having to please the investors. Either way, game was released in an unfinished state as a result.
@zettour.
@zettour. 2 жыл бұрын
Even then, the thing had one of the longest development cycles of any game. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were both made in the same amount of time Cyberpunk 2077 took. There's absolutely no way to justify the dumpster fire they released and they don't seem to care to redeem themselves either.

@@zettour. budget, the actual game model and graphic and team size matter too for time and consider the fact there are visual novel game out there that take 20 years to remake 8 years seem small for a game like this also what they made and model are very different too, the building and character in Cyberpunk are harder to model despite being a lighter smaller game ofc it still is a fact it is unfinished and i am still angry at it though
@zettour.
@zettour. 2 жыл бұрын
@@hikarihakai1285 They had a larger budget than Destiny and CD Projekt Red has over a thousand employees. What excuse do they have? To give you a bit of perspective, only Star Citizen's combined development and marketing cost is higher than Cyberpunk 2077. It's the second most expensive game ever made. As for how many were in the development team? 500. It's truly a miracle that they managed to produce something so bad with a team so large.

@@hikarihakai1285 There is no development hell that can transform "the second most expensive game ever made" into an alpha test. If 300 million dollars, 500 developers, and 9 years can't make a playable open world RPG, then what will? The only way this could've happened is if they simply did not care. As they continue to do thus far.

I played after the first patch on PC and had no bugs that interfered that much in the gameplay. The lore is stunning, but wasn't used all it's potential because of the sudden release. The ambience and details in the city and vehicles is a whole another level, never seen a city so big and detailed in a game. The immersion with first person gameplay is definetly there, it wouldn't work that much if it was third person. But all of it cracks when a random bug happens or you stumble in something that obviously was cutted off from the game in order to release early. It was sad, both the release situation and the game itself. I've cried twice at the end. Now I hope they complete the fixing of problems and release the expansions to finish the game with the content that was meant to be, then open full support to community modding, because this game has such a great potential to be something huge and timeless, as much as Skyrim is

I was playing the current version of cyberpunk. And there were bugs. For example, the occasional inability to pick up some trivial garbage. One serious graphical bug (fixed by saving and loading the game). One bug with the spawning car (because I summoned it in a location that was impossible to enter). And once I saw a levitating object in the cutscene ... That's it. No bugs preventing you from continuing to play. No invisible or immortal enemies. No broken missions. If I had to list the game's problems, it wouldn't be bugs.

11:27 Just want to point out that the Clown-looking Wierd Guy is just a cameo from an Brasilian RPG podcast. His name is Ozob and his creators actually met Cyberpunks director and convinced him to put Ozob in the game. Cyberpunk has good and bad quests, but using Ozob's *cameo* as example for the bad ones feels kinda unfair.

What I like about Fallout 3 and New Vegas ia that you can completely ignore the mainquest, and just get on with life in those worlds. Similarly with Fallout 4, but there's too much building you have to do and you have to do it again every playthrough. It looks like you can't just ignore and explore in this game because the sidequests and world aren't meaningful enough. Especially without a faction system, you can't build up anything except yur collection of toys and boody modifications. You can't change the world by helping a faction or destroying another. You can't change the politics or the econmy which obviously desperately need changing so that everyone isn't living in the streets in a dying world. You pick a class at character generation which is actually a faction in the tabletop Cyberpunk RPG - Tribal, Streetkid or Corpo - and you can't even help the population you are one of. They'll still be in the exact same relation to each other, and exactly the same desperate conditions, as they were when you began. That's not just frustrating, it's actively blackpilled and criminal, to portray the world, even in a computer game, as both desperately inhuman and completely unfixable.

I thoroughly enjoyed the PC version. The most ridiculous bug I saw was in the first mission where Jackie walks through a locker like it doesn't exist and the game's physics engine suddenly kicks in. All the contents inside are now a blizzard in the room, while Jackie continues to pontificate. I remember bursting out in laughter and realizing the rest of the game was going to have these random moments of glory. Thankfully, the most irritating bug was merely being unable to loot random things of NO CONSEQUENCE like a grey tier coffee cup on the ground (although sometimes I couldn't loot blue or epic loot on robots....always the robots). Driving sucked and I found it easier and more interesting hoofing on foot. Randomly generated packs of gangsters I can kill for free loot? Hell yeah! Would have missed those pinatas in a car. they fixed driving after I finished the game, so I haven't tested the changes yet. Best quest in the game? A random quest to drive a guy to a ripper doc cuz of a bad implant in his...nether regions. I didn't appreciate the urgency and he got out of my car and ran into the intersection and blew up, sending an army of police after me to one shot me on sight. Solid 10/10 experience. Wander too close to a procedurally generated crime scene, the police get reeeeal antsy and reeeeal violent. Want that sweet sweet epic sniper rifle? gotta box some redneck MF under a concrete bridge while the "promotor" swigs on beer and taunts you. Most USELESS feature? Collecting food and drink. The alcohol is ACTUALLY bad for you, and the food buffs are meaningless on any mode except for the hardest, and I never used any of the drinks. The only useful one was for underwater, but I never remembered I had it.

They even have their own video games a trilogy of top down RPG's called Shadowrun Returns, Hong Kong and Dragonfall.

Yeah, the urgency point's a good one. Cyberpunk's main *you don't have long* hook didn't feel very threatening. Not quite as bad as Fallout 4's "IT'S BEEN AT LEAST 10 YEARS BUT I HAVE TO FIND MY BABY RIGHT THIS MINUTE" crap. I put 300 hours in and the enemies got so bullet spongy that I never did go to find that baby. The story in 2077 was great though, so I'd recommend it if the game's patched up by now.

Just like an amateur who wants to do everything and quickly face so many problems that it turns into a nightmare. It wouldn't be much of an issue if the game had amazing side content, like Witcher 3 or the entire TES series, but it's not the case in CP77. Most of the side content and combat looks and plays like generic ubisoft game that we've been playing ever since Assassin's Creed 2 and Far Cry 3. now they need to see the Cyberpunk 2077 video from Crowbcat to know the cut content of the game, btw the echo in the room and the camera can get a little better

I 100% agree with the statement that CD Project Red was forced to release an unfinished product. I remember loving the Announcement trailer ending "Coming... When it's finished"

They had 9 years. Ignoring the fact that they self-published so they had no time constraints, it doesn't excuse the brokenness of the game.

At this point I would rather have my kidney stolen before I was forced to play this game.

No. The leaks from CDPR prove that Cyberpunk's shit release was completely their fault. They mismanaged the project from start to finish. Is it a good game? No, forget bugs, Cyberpunk is flawed right down to it's foundation and CDPR hasn't acknowledged any of it. Outright stupid A.I., everything outside of the main story being repetitive crap for hours on end. Skill trees are completely boring and uninspired. Hacking being essentially an "I win" button everywhere you go. And frankly, the story itself was crap and you had no agency whatsoever. CDPR made a lot of promises on what the game was going to be, in trailers right up to the game's release. They outright lied.

My biggest complaint with the game is lack of roleplaying features. Can't change your hair after starting (even 14 year old WoW lets you do this guys..). Can't sit down on chairs. Cant eat food in animations (you only eat food/drink by clicking on it inside inventory) Can't enter 99% of buildings. Can't walk (you're forced to run everywhere, there's no walk toggle)... Can't customize apartment. can't even sleep lengthways on your bed like a normal human

I got it on pc, played it for 3 hours and uninstalled it due to it's performance issues and bugs. I don't think I'll ever install it again on my computer. I do like the game for the memes though. If nothing else.. I was able to get lots of enjoyment out of some Cyberpunk 2077 memes.. :D

The game was delayed multiple times. They weren't "rushed". They redid the game multiple times, so that shows negligence or failure on some fundamental level Also they get no credit on the setting. Its a tabletop game, and the plot here is a continuation of Johnny's story from an adventure in that tabletop game. The whole story and setting was pre-written for them by the creator of it all

Im still sad about this game. If they had more time it could have been great and we could be waiting on Cyberpunk x GTA online. But with an actuall co-op story. Even without the story just cyberpunk online could have been amazing. Now there propaply gonna stop after they fixed all of there fuck ups and no man skyed that game. ps. I know there are some people that say " Well normally games dont take 8-9 years. And you mean they should have worked longer on this?" Yes, because this isnt a normal game. This could have been the next form of Games. With like 11 years development time and a price of like 80-90 . Maybe even 100. It could have been a signal to the rest of the industry to up there fucking game. Because from there on, nobody would have accepted weak shit anymore. But at last that didnt happen. So im sad.

As an owner, someone who's played since day one, Cyberpunk hasn't gotten "better", it's gotten playable. And that's not to mention the scam that was "cutting" everything off the game before release. The game people saw in trailers, promotions and betas doesn't exist, and with CDPR's current attitude, probably will never exist, and if you can't refund, you have to content yourself with a game that's not a tenth of what was promised. It's a boring, short mess of a game with zero personality, zero innovation and LOTS of repeated content over and over to disguise the 10 hour main questline under, which is already extended by long, pointless driving sections that only take you from A to B with nothing happening.

I can definitely agree on that as well, the game gave me the most biggest "MEH" feeling since any game I've played. It was fun playing it fresh and blind but it just feels like a major slog to go through the second round.

Nope, the music In cyberpunk is absolutely hideous, it may sounds hype for an hour, but you will quickly grow tired of it, in my opinion it's even worse than the horrible optimisation

The only song I unironically listen to is that "PAIN" song, and that was only cuz of Vinny the Sauce. The rest is just dogshite.
