That chocolate bar reference has to be a Flakey. When my grandparents visited from England, they'd bring a box of them over for us. The view from the top highlights what a long climb it must have been. I was feeling fatigued just watching it as it looked so hot out there. Here it was 29 C and humid today so I haven't gone out riding yet. It's nearly 7 pm, still 27 C, but I'll likely start riding around 7:30 pm (thunderstorms predicted for 10 pm, so have to sandwich my riding in between excessive heat (for this Canuck) and excessive electricity.

Well done as always, Mr Lee. I'm fighting a sort of health depression right now and your videos are a huge help. Seems like no matter what I do my blood sugar and blood pressure keep going up. I'm steps away from 55 years old (mid August) and I do ride several times a week. Might have been going too hard on the weekends, I'm dialing back the longer miles until the base miles catch up and also due to the heat. I'm starting recommended health advisor program from my doctor here in about 30 minutes.. 2 hours webex once a month for 6 months. I will give it my full attention. One day I'd like to be able to ride 1300m of climbing. 85km ride is doable for me, I just wish I was faster. But, back to task.. the webex is starting soon and I have to gather some stuff. Thanks again for being a personal inspiration, Mr. Lee. I followed you on STRAVA recently by the way. Cheers

I think my days of cycling might be coming to an end. At least right now, I haven't been checked by the doctor yet. When I start out riding and the time comes to put in some real effort and things like heart rate, and breathing demands are going up I get this terrible squeezing and pressure feeling in my chest. It only started happening this year. I slow down and give it time to subside but keep going. It eventually goes away through continuing to ride but it's got me worried. Is cycling going to kill me? I'll be making the appointment to have tests done. Strange because I'm not over weight and have always had an exceptionally good report when I get physicals. I'm going to be 66 years old soon and because of my good condition I never thought I would have to give up cycling. 😢

@@jollygoodvelo Kudos!!! I would love a tutorial on how best to travel with one's bike so as to begin to enjoy the sorts of cycling trip such as the one you are on. Perhaps something you might consider? Thank you.

I'll be honest I think you are over analysing things, "selecting the correct gear before the climb and that's where the climb profile comes in" - select the gear you're comfortable riding in on any part of a ride - if you're struggling a bit drop down, if you want to push change up!!! If you want to do a bit of analysis mid-ride just get your heart rate where you want it when balanced with your cadence, your breathing and how you are feeling!!! No need to "select the correct gear for a climb"! The only time I'm conscious of which gear I'm in is when I've run out!!

Muscle bike what the Hell is that ? electric bikes are cheating unless you have some kind of physical dissability. I have degenerative disc disease with 2 herniated discs and I refuse to use an e bike.

Define cheating. No one was racing so the people on ebikes were just taking the fear out of the climbs we
