Hi Laura. I am fortunate enough to be Scottish and live in this wonderful country. Those insects were midges and they don't like anyone. At various times of the year they are very difficult to escape. Another photographer gave me advice. There is a product called Smidge which I think is still available which keeps them at bay. If you live here you learn when to photograph and when to stay out of the rain. I hope that you enjoyed the scenery though :)

As a fellow female [outdoor] photog, any time you hike with gear, use hiking/trekking poles. Game-changer 🙌🏾 Helps distribute the gear weight & adds extra stability when hiking up/down terrain. Even if you just use ONE, which I also do often, it helps tremendously. Even when I travel, I pack my poles. Besides that, beautiful vlog of Scotland! I went there BEFORE i got into photography & Im excited to go back to the highlands to "see" it differently 📸.

Some really amazing shots. I've been there this year and the Jacobite train was working. Although it may sound strange, you've been really lucky to have a more moody weather, only then in my opinion Scotland shines at its brightest. Thank you for bringing back those stunning memories!

I am super fortunate to say that I have hiked the entirety of Glencoe, it was mine and my friends escape during covid near the end of 2020 into 2021 and it is a beautiful area, I just wish landscape photography was something I found very interesting, my friend loves it, has beautiful drone shots of lots of places in Scotland. I just find I need people or action in my scenes to feel inclined to press the shutter button haha! Great blog, glad you managed to visit my home country though great to see your view on it!

Not sure how his video came up on my timeline, but glad it did video was excellent, colours were stunning. Having lived in London 8 years I know well the feeling for the need to escape once in a while. I live on the Isle of Mull now, a great location for a photography escape - have a spare bedroom which is yours if you need a cheap getaway. Probably won't see too much of me if I am making whisky on shifts, but can be on hand if you need locational or midge advice.

Hi Laura, I just finished watching your new video of Schotland and I love it. It brings back memories for us here because I have been to Scotland often and my husband Jeroen and I even got engaged on the Isle of Iona. Our rings are even from there :-) Your video is highly entertaining, even calming with the wonderful music, all over beautifully made. I would have also liked it to seen a short clip moment of you in the coffeeshop or the place where you rested and stayed, maybe some images of when you bring your photo's into yout laptop.
