I lived in Grenville back in the '70s. We would cross the mountains to St. George's to shop once a week...store our groceries in the refrigerator at the grocery store...have lunch in a restaurant overlooking this harbor and swim at Grand Anse Beach..pick up groceries and go back to Grenville. A fun filled day! Most idyllic time of my life to this day. Thank you for taking us on this walk...a walk through my memory of my time on this beautiful island. I managed a bookstore in Grenville...rented a house in the mountains named High Hope. Had a group of wonderful friends and a delightful Grenadian grandmother. Nutmeg Restaurant was where we ate!!!

What a lovely story, I could picture it in my mind. Sounds like great, relaxing times. I remember back in the 80s and 90s it was The Nutmeg we went to all the time too.😊

Another great video Kriss; but where is the cinema at about (7:30)? Was it replaced by the health center? I have also noticed a few shops missing, like 'Seascape' the book shop; the jewelry shop was an Emerald diamond shop. There used to be a bar shop in the Hubbards building in the 80s before I left the island and I liked the name 'Delicious Landing' it was a unique name and for a magnificent picturesque spot. The Carenage looks wonderful in spite of the derelict buildings. Another great job.
@krissmgvlogs4 жыл бұрын
Oh, I know nothing about a cinema that used to be there, how interesting, maybe someone else knows more. Emerald Diamond Shop, that's right, I remember now. The book shop and the bar must have been before my time and Delicious Landing was a great name. Thanks for watching!

I visited Grenada for the first time after leaving in 1956 - I was born there but migrated to TnT with my mom at the tender age of 5 months. I was really pleased with what I saw. I must say, the entire island was very clean - we did an island tour. My family and I stayed within 10 mins walking distance from Grand Anse beach - across from the pink plaza...I forgot the name

Let's be correct! Many people get mixed up between " Carenage " and " Careenage." The former is French and means " Inner Basin " ( of water ). The latter is a place where ships are turned on their sides and cleaned ( to careen ). This is still the name given to a body of water in Bridgetown, Barbados; not Grenada as ships were never careened.
@krissmgvlogs4 жыл бұрын
According to Britannica.com "The waterfront itself is known as the Carenage because island schooners were once careened (beached for cleaning or repair) there."
