I used to work at SMT (Southern Machine & Tool) in 1975 - 1976 building record presses. It was a very interesting job. Note all the record presses that have the SMT label on them.

This is quite cool to see APO grow. I remember as a young audiophile, i was so impressed when apo bought blue haven studios, and i met jimmy lee robinson at the stereophile audio show in NYC (i think it might have been the last one). I didn’t have much disposable income back then, but i bought a Jimmy Lee and Weepin Willie SACD at the show. That was a lot of money for me back then, but man was i proud about these acoustic recordings and how “lifelike” they sounded with the minimalist mic’ing techniques. Years have gone by, and APO is still my first source for music purchases.

I got to know Chad and the history of Acoustic Sounds some years ago. A lifelong obsession with vinyl records and high quality audio just could have ended up this way - building a pressing plant up to their very strict and high expectations. These are not your typical hipster indie records - this is a very high quality product catering to audiophiles. And I can tell they certainly know how to pull it off.

I have the counting crows first album and it came from this company. I can't even describe how good it sounds. I've heard the cd a million times and when I played it from my record I heard things in the music I've never heard before.

You don’t want The sound to be too clean or too sterile or too sanitized you still want that warm that warmth of old classic vinyl you’ll be defeating You’re purpose Of re-issuing or bringing back vinyl discs if they’re only going to sound like a 💿 !

Im a admirer and Collector of the late Yehudi Menuhin and I've been Collecting his Records both on Pre war 78rpm and LP Vinyl for over forty years and I found the best Vinyl Pressing's were made between 1955 and 1972 and My Collection would be impossible to Replace and in the Classical world the Recordings come under these Categorys,Common which means that the Recording sold well Hard to find which means that they are getting scares Rare and very Rare which either means that the Recording didn't sell very or the Record labels were changed as in the case of My Copy's of Yehudi Menuhin's 1938 Recording of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto which was Recorded on Monday May 2nd 1938 Record Numbers DB-3555 DB-3558 but wasn't Released until November 1939 and within 6 Months of the Recording Release the label was changed from the Coloured labels to the Monochrome labels and later the album's were also changed and Willhelm Furtwangler and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Playing Tchaikovsky Symphony Number six Record Numbers DB-4609 DB-4614 again from the Coloured labels to the Monochrome and the Recording was Made in October and November 1937 and was released in January 1939 and within 12 Months of the Recordings Release that label was also changed and the album's were later changed from the Gatefold album's to the flapover album's because of the Shortages of Raw Materials during the Second world war and His Master's Voice never went back to the Coloured labels on 78rpm they did Briefly on Vinyl LP's from 1952-1964 and Vinyl LP's first came out in 1948 and the 1953 Coronation Service was issued on three Vinyl LP Records Originally on three Single LP Records which had the Royal warrant on and in a Box set which didn't and as the Price of Vinyl LP's came down so His Master's Voice issued the Coronation Service in a Presentation Box and that was also changed so the General Public had to fetch each Record out of the Box and the Presentation Box was also changed from the Gatefold Box to a single Box and the last 78rpm Records were Pressed in 1960

these guys make the very best records. I have a few and they really sound great! I would love to work there. but I can not even visit as I am a Canadian man with a rich criminal record of being a pot smoker. It makes me an international criminal and the last three times I have tried to cross the border, I have been turned back. "We don't want any more pot smokers here in the U.S.A. kid."

Go take a look at Discogs. People are buying vinyl. Just because your friends are dumb enough to pay for (LOL) MP3's, doesn't mean there aren't people buying vinyl. In fact, Metal & Punk bands have never stopped selling vinyl. Now the bigger labels & genres are catching on.

+cengeb - Chad Kassem has been reissuing records for nearly 25 years, and selling them at very high prices. He has been highly successful. Doing his own plating and pressing is a natural extension of his business.
@kennethdegruchy55035 жыл бұрын
If this company is so quality oriented why did you allow such poor audio bites to be included in this promo? Truly counterproductive. If you could not re shoot the bad sequences you could have at least overdubbed the bad takes.
@nealsausen46513 жыл бұрын
Wow! Those little capital pressing from the 50s those sound the best and final was so thick and the grooves were so deep and durable if you keep them in good condition and use common sense when handling them and storing them they will last forever and they all sound great yeah Capitol! Watch that Old video, .”WANNA BUY A RECORD”? To see how they did it in the golden age of record production!
@cengeb8 жыл бұрын
best plating man in the "industry" of making records? Like being the best wheel maker for horse drawn carriages. there is a reason why Polygram and MCA, and Warner, and CBS stopped making them...they stopped making rotary phones for a reason,2016....join it?
@outspokengenius7 жыл бұрын
Obviously you have no idea what your talking about. Listen to a quality pressing on a high quality turn table connected to a quality recever and speakers. Then you'll realize that digital will never be able to sound as good. There's a hell of a lot more that goes into making quality records.
