The true problem is LeBron is allowed to "influence" these hiring decisions due to the weakness of Pelinka as the actual GM. If Pelinka knew as much about building a team than he does about representing players in contract negotiations, the Lakers would have been in the Finals two out of the last three seasons. Pelinka was Kobe's agent. This is why he's in that position and a big part of the reason why he's been allowed to keep that position, despite the lousy job he's done. Magic was right; Pelinka's appointment was necessary during the Buss family lawsuit, but he has outlived his usefulness. The Lakers need an actual basketball GM in that position.

Comparing Kerr's hire to Reddick's is not accurate. Kerr played a long NBA Career and played for 2 of the Greatest NBA Coaches ever in Phil Jackson and Greg Poppovich. Kerr made it known near the end of his career he wanted to coach in the NBA and Popovich vouched for him. I enjoy Rich Eisen's show but sometimes the format annoys me with Rich playing Mister Positive and Chris playing the skeptic. The difference is this is Lebron's Hire and Lebron is far from his prime. Lebron's son announced going Pro knowing with his numbers no one will draft him and the Laker's will draft Lebron's son in the 2nd Rd of the NBA draft. The Laker's won't do anything until Lebron retires and the Team can move forward.

Imagine the awkwardness of the first pod after Bronny gets ZERO minutes...and every pod after.

I think JJ should offer Larry Bird the Lakers GM job.😂
