Hats off to Squire for making a reliably functional 12 string for 400 bucks. The only thing that comes close is...arguably uglier but equally weird Danelectro, then after that you gotta cross your fingers and pucker your butts surfing for used. Smart move on the blue paint so it sounds better and smells better than all the other tonally inferior colors, btw.

Andertons have renewed the Burns brand (again) and they've released two new 12 string electrics, the Double-Six and 24.75" scale SSJ. Both around the same price as the Squier

Dang Landon, Squier really took their lineup to another level with this 12 string Jazzmaster. Really, really great tones. Great playing for someone who hasn't played a twelve-string before.

Unlike most "budget" 12-strings, the bridge allows for intonation adjustment of all 12 strings individually.

The fact they actually call it a “hockey stick” headstock actually gives it a pass in my opinion. They know it’s ugly and don’t pretend it isn’t. My only complaint is narrow tall frets. Just give us medium jumbo or jumbo as the standard please. Everyone else does. I think Squier puts narrow tall frets on every guitar they are concerned about taking market share away from Fender.

Yea, the best example of narrow, tall fretts I ever heard ( speed bumps ) but being a 12 string it probably will have a better feel than a six string with narrow tall fretts. Sounds really good good and unique. I like it.

I think it's cool...you could always take a jig saw and fix the headstock but I don't mind it. I have a Yamaha Pacifica electric strat style 12 string that's great They are fun to play.

Note that the EADG strings are all an octave apart. Only the BE strings are doubled.

I had been eyeing on of these for a while. Finally pounced when a nice Black Friday deal made a lake placid blue version extremely attainable for me. I love mine. My only other guitar is a 97 MIM tele so this is very different but, as a result of buying the new guitar, I’ve been playing both guitars a ton.

I rather like headstock. It matches the 12 strings. It's pre-historic, epic in size. I've played an 18 minute version of Eight Miles High by the Byrds on it.

I have zero problem with that headstock and actually I also think it’s totally killer. I’m buying this cool instrument to add to my arsenal of stringed instrument to assist me and my journey on my way to recording the weirdest most inspiring instrument record known to mankind. I got the white one with the tort pickguard. After a good setup it plays and sounds pretty good . I think the bridge pickup may be a little hot for my taste. But that’s any easy fix . All in all it’s a quality 12 string electric at a good price and that’s hard to find.

I think it looks great and would be fun but for how often I would likely play it, not sure I'd buy one but I agree it's pretty awesome that it even exists and that Fender continues to do stuff like this in the Squier lineup. I missed out on the Squier Baritone Jazzmaster back in the day and am just pining for the day they release that or something close enough again! I did however already pick up the Vintage 40 Jazzmaster and Strat's and those are both really great... they're on sale for $351 right now at Guitar Center, I just wanted the Jazzmaster honestly but I saw the Strat in that soft blue hanging on the wall and as soon as I grabbed it... that was also coming with me lol The eggshell satin paint on the Vintage 40 Strat is the nicest feeling paint on any guitar I've ever encountered... the neck is also incredibly smooth and well done overall. Oddly the Vintage 40 Jazzmaster's paint is a much flatter satin, still great but doesn't have that eggshell feel of the Strat. The neck on the V40 Jazz is also not tinted as dark, nor nearly as smooth but it still feels really great and is definitely still a satin finish. Also strange, the Jazz neck at the nut is .08 slimmer than the Strat and the spec on Fenders site says the direct opposite... all I know is they both feel and play great. You asked for one comment or two comments or no comments so I gave you three comments in one just to be safe 😀

I bought one on July 1st and love it! I am a bassist, but got into guitar about 3 years ago or so just to have another skill. I think it sounds awesome, I love the Lake Placid Blue finish, and i actually like the hockey stick headstock. Go Lightning!!

I think some here are being a little overdramatic about the headstock, it looks perfectly normal to me, Fender has been using that horsehead design for 12-strings since I was a kid in the 60's. Thought they were cool then, and now. But I guess if you're young and not used to it, it would look odd. Anyway I like what a 12-string electric brings in the way of creativity, I don't use it all the time but it's fun to lay down a rhythm track with it and see where it goes. Add some reverb, delay, and chorus for something different. For the price it fills the void quite well. Overall good review, thanks.

Pretty cool. I typically don't like 12-string guitars. I don't really like to play them or the way that they sound. That's just a personal preference that I am sure someone will tell me I am wrong about and I would have a hard time disagreeing LOL. I love the color and the pickguard combo and it sounded pretty good for a 12-string in the demo, but all in all, not really my thing. Have a great weekend, Lando! Thanks for the great video. Customise it so that it's set up with the Rickenbacker 12 stringing configuration. You think it sounds good stock. Replace the nut and string it up a la a Rickenbacker 12. It will blow your mind. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

Ummmm, are you sure about the G being the same, I think the G is normally around a 23 - 09 or there about. That is what gives us an octave on the E A D and G strings with the B and high E providing dissonance.

Dude; I get what you’re saying, but some songs really require a 12 string. I just saw Govt. Mule at Wolf Trap outside of DC (part of the National Park System) with The Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience opening for them. Both bands had songs with the lead guitar player playing a 12 string electric guitar. I personally love 12 strings, and have a double neck Epiphone electric with a 12 and 6 string neck as well as an Ovation 12 string acoustic electric. The double neck is heavy as hell. I don’t see how Jimmy Page; whom weighs about 100 pounds less than me played one for basically an entire concert. In my opinion, guitars like these are made on a very limited run, and are highly collectible. I had to wait wait nearly 10 years to get my Epiphone double neck.

It’s not really supposed to be played where you’re playing 12 strings separately. Most of them are put in courses of two for a reason. Just play it like you normally would a six string, but with wider motions.

Are you saying the gstrings are the same gauge? My 12 string has a standard tuned g and an .08 octave g . I wouldn’t buy this without an octave g .
