Is it automated/algorithmic as well? Or is it just manual trading?

Unlikely that good traders will disappear anytime soon even 10 years from now there will be no substitute for human intelligence.

trading a book for a fund is different than market making+agency trading its feasible that algos/AI could take over making markets for liquid products, but algos/AI will probably not be able to take over market making+agency trading for illiquid products within our lifetimes sure, quant funds that trade based on algos/AI work, see RenTec, but there will always be a place for a macro based human trader taking risk for their firm, not just making markets or trading on behalf of another firm put simply, machines may be able to trade equities/eq derivs, but machines won't be able to slice and dice ABS or illiquid fixed income products or derivs within our lifetimes

I'm attending Stevens to study Quant next year. I interned at a PE firm this past year, but corona ended it early. PE doesn't interest me as much as S&T. Hope to be interning at a trading firm soon.

what is the difference between trading firm and hedging fund?
@Generictingz954 жыл бұрын
one thing for sure is hedge funds usually only deal with very wealthy clients. hedge funds are usually more aggressive (which can lead to more risk) too
@gunner82163 жыл бұрын
Trading firms trade. and hedge funds hold long positions or short. Hedge funds can get capital from corporations, investment banks, pension funds, or high net worth individuals.
