龙飞虎先生最后说的那个方法，是我妈妈年轻时学上海话的方法，也是我自己在用的。我的brain soaking是每天在去学校和回家的路上听BBC news。不管听得懂听不懂，反正就一直听着。然后我去读小朋友的图画书（虽然我那个时候已经是中学生），那些英文句子看多了，自己就会copy说和写。现在我学荷兰文同样道理，我觉得每次能很地道得说一句话后，比如je heb herlijk 会很有motivation继续学。

Honestly I am so grateful to have found this video because I've been doing that sort of brain soak thing for years and championing its use as a good language learning tool, and seeing literally no one else til now talking about it made me wonder if I was just trying to get people to do something that only worked for me. Nice to know it's an actual thing that someone way more skilled than me at languages has tested and found through study is generally effective.

yeah i agreed with Mr.Lonsdale, I had English listening test back then, I thought that the recording of the audio was bad lol. Until i changed the way i think, because when I listen to Mandarin radio or tv , even the audio is bad I can still get the meaning and know the words. It was me that is bad

At about 9:28, for the Chinese word 推敲, I once got a hint from a professor when commenting on my earliest academic manuscript with perhaps a similar meaning to it, STRIKE. I basically got the same understanding as 推敲, from that professor when he wrote down STRIKE YOUR SENTENCES AND WORDS. How do you think about this translation? Is it a proper, or close one?

A more precise translation to his view of learning Cantonese: Learning Cantonese is not difficult AT ALL after grasping Manderin Chinese, where it just has A LITTLE BIT difference in tones and some words picking in specific phrasing. I typed this is to say Cantonese is just a regular dialect; unlike some shallow claim in the internet, it's NOT another language.

This is good Mandarin, but not 'native level' as he claims. Some of his tones in some parts are flattish, and some parts are spoken perfectly, which makes me think he rehearsed likely questions.

personally i don't think that's the case that he rehearsed. in my experience sometimes you're just more familiar with some words than others bc you either see or hear them more often or they gain some significance to you and consequently, you also say them better. for other words, maybe you forget the tones and you kind of just wing it loool. just my 两块

9:27 "Tuiqiao? eh It sounds like "Tahaksin mõelda" in Estonian because the term "Tahaksin" is not straight forward want, but passive-aggressive, we used to tease the Germans with, its likeness --" I would like to like!", not really straight forward like. Because Estonains there not required to always like things as servants, so it seems the closest to thinking it over, as the dicvtionary gives... 15:00 I learned German by Watching "Der Preiss ist Heiss" and "Familienduell" as a child, and taught it to my one year younger brother at the same time. Blabber TV shows are the best way to learn a language, because you get the most bodylanguage and other stuff of knowledge, and because they are meant as timesink programs. Later you can add on with a dictionary, the words you are missing, like playing the Proper MMO, this is how I for instance got the specific English words like "Steadfast" or "Resolve" you don't normally use in every day life. They should really implement video games in learning with its interactive Narrative matrix
