Want to learn Chinese or any other language from my own courses? Check out: www.streetsmartlanguages.com/
The other day I went into a bunch of Chinese restaurants as an ordinary but kinda clueless white guy and ordered food in fluent Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). It was a really fun prank and social experiment to see Chinese people’s reactions - both the waiters and the other patrons in these NYC Chinatown restaurants were totally shocked! Thanks everyone for supporting me on my language learning journey - Fuzhounese videos coming up very soon!

This is exactly like my British dad in the 1980s. He speaks a few languages fluently. Cantonese (my mum is chinese), Urdu, French and more. It was hilarious seeing the reactions of people. He had a lot of fun practising. As he says in the video, you have to keep speaking it or you'll forget.

So true, but what's funny is that I only had one semester of French in high school 30 years ago and I have retained almost all of what I learned and rarely practice it. A few years back I just happened to run into a French Canadian woman working in northern Minnesota restaurant. I used what little French I know to order my food and she was very impressed. It's fun to see expressions like hers. That what makes these videos that Ari produces so fun!

Its so cool seeing this. It’s really great seeing native English speakers speaking your language. Once I was in London and a Taxi driver asked me where I’m from and he suddenly started speaking fluently German. That really felt great. And it turned out the Taxi company he was in has a contract with Hollywood and he often drives Helena Bonham Carter around and also Gigi Hadid once. I just wanted to mention that because it shocked me back then.

@Iceman 19 If you couldn't care less, you wouldn't have replied to the guy stating that "you couldn't care less". You would have just ignored the notification of that person's reply and went on with your day. The fact that you decided to spend some minutes of your time to write up a reply and stating how "truth hurts" which is you wanting people to know a view that you have, strongly indicates that you do actually care. You hope that making a statement of "truth hurts" which implies that the guy is lesser than you because he "avoids the truth" would provoke him further because you want to sound smart and draw attention to that smartness. You're basically a little bitch of an attention whore who claims not to be one just to sound cool. You probably love reading your own comments and marvel at how enlightened they look to you.
