Great interview. I met Voni briefly at my 1st BMW Rally in Billings, MT 2015. I was walking to the restroom when she said hello and welcome to the rally. She is so sweet. She must of seen my button on my shirt 1st Time Rally. I did have a great time at that rally.

OH MY !!! Hi Voni & Paul! & Rich & Chris.... I have been riding BMW's since 1977. With only 250,000 miles, and being 69, I do not think I will get to 1,000,000. Just can not afford to get on the road. So... I ride vicariously! I was a member of BMW MOA for almost 30 years. Life and Life got in the way, so now I just take a little ride here and there on my 2010 R1200GS. I owned for 3 wonderful years a 1994 R1100RS. ( just like yours) During those years ( the mid 90's) I did get to travel up and down the east coast on that bike. My Longest ride was 4,800 miles in 6 days. The last leg home, I was in a hurry to get back to work..sad huh?... well ...I did not realize what I did, until it was over. I covered 1382 miles in 21 hours. Man that R1100RS was a wonderful bike! It would go like the wind on a race track too! If ever any of you are near the LAfayette Louisiana Area... please let get together. I can show you a full day of wonderful bayou back roads and great restaurants ! Thanks and ride safe!

Voni and Paul always been a great inspiration to BMWMOA members and the motorcycle community, young and old. Great interview .

I remember my first motorcycle at 21 years old and getting on the highway. I was doing 60 mph, looking down at the pavement and thinking holy crap I don’t wanna fall off. I’m 49 now with about 200,000 miles. luckily I’ve never been seriously hurt. The best thing you have riding a motorcycle is that matter between your ears. One day I’ll hit a million 👍

That first introduction of the BMW R1100RS is the bike that took me off of Harley Davidsons. I test drove one at Sturgis and came back with the same reaction as Vonni. My boyfriend insisted that I had to let go of it and give it back to the demo crew. Vonni and I started riding about the same year. Great interview, I would have been a total fan girl, great job Chris.

Now there is what I call an expert rider. I love the wisdom she showed in riding on her own property until she felt safe going into traffic. That first two to three thousand miles is so dangerous for new riders, but it is natural for people to think that they need to get on the road as soon as possible. Take your time, and you will have a lifetime of riding ahead of you if that is what you want.

Big time guest l loved it. At 80 my dad laid over his bagged out XL 1100 yamaha he called me and I came to help we both struggled to get it on its wheels. Next day he bought a Honda 250 helex step thrugh.he rode it until he had heart attack at 83 and passed 6 months later. He still was trying he had just bought a Honda 50cc scooter 2 weeks before we lost him. And I think how I have lost my nerve to ride at 60 .keep up the ride and adventure I love to see your camera view as you travel alond.and the places you see along the way. I just filled the gas tank on the camaro today 63 dollars . I might have to restore my confidence with this gas prices 🤔

I first read about Voni Glaves in a late 1980s edition of BMW MOAs owners magazine, an article called Voni’s Big Adventure, where she rode alone to Canada from the USA. I still have that magazine and post with Paul Glaves on the MOA Forum when I need advice about my 1986 BMW R80RT motorcycle. He’s a Beemer wizard. Voni is a legend.😎

Modern day seniors are far more active then many know. Our BMW Riders club in Tampa Bay has numerous riders in their mid 70’s and several female riding members all doing 3 RTE weekly. I gain inspiration from them all and hope I can continue for several more years. Nice lady , great interview.
