Ten years ago I found your channel and some others. I started planning my way to living on the water full time. 3 years ago I quit my IT desk job, and started my own company. My life has become so much better! The lord really provides, so many change encounters brought me happy customers. I have no financial worries what so ever. Live Simple, Life free has been my motto for years! Thank you for your part in that!

Loved your new intro! Enjoyed the video. I thought about the full-time life but I see a lot of difficulties in doing so. No life is perfect and there will be problems no matter what... But I could never move away from my kids, that would be the hardest part of it all. I have a daughter that moved to northern Maine and I don't see her very often, I live on the town line and my oldest son lives just a few miles from here in the next town, and my youngest son rents the house across the street from us, and I've gotten pretty used to that. I love the idea of all that travel and I could really get into seeing the world, but I would miss them so much. But if we lost it all, then I would definitely choose that lifestyle. We live a modest life and have nothing fancy... An old small house, an old-ish camper, and an old truck... But with all the blessings that God has given us I feel rich and truly blessed... God is good!

Kim In Canada it was. Made me think about how far we have come. You have to want to be debit free. We had a big house In The city. New cars with notes. Bills. And more bills. Then I came down with a rare very severe form of psoriatic arthritis called mutalins. It took me down. We had to quickly figure out how to survive. I prayed and read my Bible everyday. I clearly saw the direction God wanted me to take. I found land. One Craigslist. It was a for sale by owner ad. He carried the not for three years. We paid him off and got a clear deed. It was not easy. We watched our neighbors buy new cars and shop at the mall. While we went to goodwill for clothes. And never ate out so we could pay off a shed cabin on our property. But in five years time. We bought a 12 acres property and paid it off plus all our debt. And sold our big house for top dollar. It Sold the first hour on the market and went into multiple offers. And we got out. We kept telling our neighbors we were going to move to the country. And because the for sale sign was only in the yard a couple weeks total until we closed they were shocked to see the moving truck. It was very difficult. Because I am so sick. I only got my official diagnosis and the correct medication two years ago. So I was struggling. My husband working to keep us about water. And my daughter had her head in a book all the time. But she was accepted into a pharmaceutical program at an awesome university. Got a scholarship. So no matter what the odds are stacked against you if you want it you can get it. My only regret is that I had not gotten a plan together sooner to purchase land. I was thinking I’ll work until I’m 62 and we will find a nice place near a lake. I had always dreamed of having a place where deer would come up on the property. When I got so sick I had difficulty walking and driving. Due to all the joint damage I thought well now I’ll never have a place like we planned. I just prayed and read God word. I listened to God direction. I was not until we had bought our farm and we had it about a month. We got a pop up camper so we could spend weekends there. My husband Hollered at me saying be quiet but come look. There were deer out on the back pasture. It was then I realized God had given me my hearts desires. From that moment I felt like that property was a part of me. It’s means that we will never homeless or our children. No matter what happens, if they are sick and can’t work like Me they will have an address. They might live in a tiny home a yurt or an RV but it’s still home sweet home. Never give up on your dreams. And make sure Jesus is the center of your life. Always put Jesus first. God bless! Leslye

This information of living debt free is so valuable. Thank you for sharing. We are in the process of paying off all our debt.....and let me tell you....GEEZ....I wish I had done this years ago. It is crunch time right now and we are working a TON.....but making great strides and the debt going away.......is so relieving. I do not have to work at a job that I hate........I do not have to sweat being off work for a week or two......getting there with the goal of full-time travel (still working). This was great information. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

Candle Hoarder I started watching KZbin 10 years ago. I had become very ill. It’s a rare form of psoriatic arthritis called mutalins. So I was forced to leave my career. I have made so many wonderful friends on youtube. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few. But I feel like I know so many, it’s a big beautiful community. We have had the pleasure of helping some of the friends we made and we have received help. It feels to me like the neighbors we had growing up in the 60s. We might all be States apart but we are neighbors in a way. KZbin neighbors. God bless you! Leslye

Hello! I have not watched in a while. I love what you have done with your new home. We are going to be buying a motorhome after the new year, God willing. So it’s nice to see RVers. We had our first garden this year. Kurt did a really good job. And we got chickens and a rooster. Thank goodness we have fantastic neighbors out here in the country. So when we go to visit our daughter in the spring we have someone to care for our chickens. We moved our daughter to Florida in July. She is in graduate school. And we just see the need to go a couple times a year and check out her car and make sure it’s in good shape. And help her with anything she needs. Plus we can visit. Kurt and I started a resale visit about 8 years ago just part time. More of a hobby. It helped us have vacation money things like that. Well this past November kurt retired from his job as a journeyman electrician. He still has his license but after his father passed away it just made both of us take a harder look at life. I’ve been disabled since 2010 . And kurt had worked so hard. Trying to keep us from losing everything. Once I got so sick and my salary was gone he really stepped up. We were able to fix up our suburban home and sell it for top dollar, Kurt got our vehicles paid off. But you can’t do 80 -90 hours a week forever. So in November he left his job. It was a huge leap of faith. And our little thrifting resale hobby has put food on the table and gas in the car. It’s been a blessing. So over the past 10 months kurt studied and he has become a home inspector. His electrician job really helped. He knew a lot about building. And has learned so much more. Now he can do an inspection once a twice a week. less or more, totally up to him. But no more 80/90 hours working. We do youtube. It’s never gotten off the ground but we see it as a fun hobby as well. So maybe at some point we will have income from that. KZbin was my idea because I found so many wonderful people out there on youtube that I wanted them to know us an consider us friends. Now kurt loves youtube as well. We are the same as this sweet couple we are rich at $3000 a month. We own our farm. And we own a Suburban home now. With an excellent renter. Lol. It’s our daughter. She loves it. It was my father in law old home. We bought out the other family members and fixed it up. It’s was such a blessing. The day my father In law passed away my father was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. Now my father in law lived with us. His house had been empty two years. But his house is 2 minutes to my fathers house. Once we got it fixed up our daughter moved in and has been there to help my dad. She has some of our chickens now and can supply eggs for her grandfather and her neighbor. We currently live in a little country home. We are not at our farm. But we felt like we can manage both of the property. Especially now that our daughter lives in the suburban home. But I tell you it was hard. When Kurt had to cut grass here at the country home and our on the farm and the suburban home plus work 80+ hours driving and hours each way. And be there for his dad. And take him to appointment while managing a crew at work. I did all I could but so much fell on him. His being able to be off and study for a new career is a blessing from a God. We always thought once we sold the big suburban home we would move to our big farm. But our daughter got into a 7 year program to become a pharmacist. Witch required kurt to keep that good wage coming in, so I found this little country home half way between his work and our farm. It was just temporary, well we fell in love with the town the people. And when you get older and have a disability it’s impossible to be close to a hospital and doctors, so we decided to keep this little country home no matter what. The Rv comes into the picture one because I always wanted us to travel. But now that our daughter is in graduate school it enables us to go and visit her for a while a few times a year. And who knows where she will take a job. I hope it’s back in Tennessee but if not we can go visit. The other nice thing is we only have a shed cabins out at the farm. With a motorhome it gives us more space for family to visit the farm, we were able to get a boat and our farm is less than 5 minutes to the river. Kurt hopes to do more home inspections up by the river and less going in the direction of the bigger cities, so that’s where we have been, I think the last time I watched your channel we had moved to the country, my father in law was with us. You moved into your new home. I think about all the things you both went through. Much like what kurt and I have gone through. Many many changes. And God blessings us all along the way. It got super hard at times. I worried about Kurt driving so far to work. And my health issues. I didn’t know how in the world we would get my father in laws home ready or if the family would sign off on us buying them out so our daughter could live there. We lost five family members in 2019/ 2020. Still the hand of God was on us. And on you. Your place is very nice. I am so happy for you! Hope you don’t mind the long message. I missed you. And wanted to tell you about our changes. Hope to keep up better. And we are doing videos on cabin life again. Plus a new for our huskies( Dakota & Pearl. ) Any money we make after we get monitored on the dogs channel will go to animals in need. Seems so many need help. Cats and dogs. God bless you you both and your father. It’s truly a blessing to live with multiple generations. Take care! Leslye

They do not have a home paid for in Alabama. They sold everything they owned to buy an inexpensive 20 year old RV, and hit the road with about $1,000 in the bank! I know a lot of people are very skeptical that this can be done, and think it's only for the rich. But most full-time RVers have incomes BELOW the national average, and they survive just fine because they have no (or very little) debt.

We love changing jobs. Not enough time to get burned out on a location. And actually we have only worked at 1 campground. There are so many other types of jobs out there for seasonal workers. I had no idea before we started this that I could work in a lab at the sugar beet harvest! Or Amazon over the holidays. That’s a small drop in the bucket of jobs we get.

I do not bombard you all with questions......but do you keep a home base? (This is obvious for the SWAT team). I just cannot decide to keep my house or sell. Buy a piece of property to park the camper on or a different house? These are questions and answers I need. Please advise on the "home base". thanks again

I would hate the instability of having to find a job every few months. It would take a certain person to have to do that. My husband and I are debt free and live very comfortably. I can’t imagine living that way - I can see two problems right up front. Health bills and medication. Ongoing doctor bills for serious illnesses. They look young but as they age - doing what they are doing will become much more difficult. The second thing is that you would have to stay in warm enough areas to be able to stay in the rv through the winter. The third thing is leaving the children and grandkids. Do they have children and grandchildren?
@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree 4 жыл бұрын
There are trade-offs for EVERY style of living, and this is not for everyone. But read the comments. Many people aspire to this! Finding these temporary seasonal jobs is easy. There are numerous websites and newsletters that list them. They have never had a problem finding a job. Medical issues are not as bad as you think. Johnny recently had open-heart surgery in Arizona while they were on the road! Kids and grandkids? MANY people are separated from the grands when the kids move away due to work, etc, and only see them once or twice a year. That’s very common. Johnny and Tracy have the freedom to go see the kids and grands whenever they want, and stay as long as they want. AND... they don’t plant to do this forever! They have retirement plans in place.
@tracybercegeay4264
@tracybercegeay4264 4 жыл бұрын
Valid concerns!! First, we are members of an organization specifically for workamping, and usually we don’t look for a job. Usually employers contact us. Finding a job on the road is so much easier than in our “other” life! Health insurance is through the marketplace and prescriptions are sent to Walmart, so no problems there. We are in our 40’s and my husband actually had quintuple bypass surgery January 2019. It only made us want this even more. Life is short, and we never know what tomorrow holds. So we go to Alabama once or twice a year for our appointments and take better care of ourselves. We try to chase the good weather, but we have been in some cold areas. We turn on the furnace, take pictures of the snow, and hope it melts soon! One of our winter jobs gave us free propane, so that was a bonus. We do have kids. They are all grown. No grands yet, but this lifestyle means we can see them on our own schedule.

I started listening to this and it sounded good until they said they lived on 3k per month.I have thought about this but I struggle to make less working full time and after rent am not able to cime up with money to start. So this still doesn't seem realistic unless you are fortunate enough to have a lot of money to get started.I'm not knocking you or I have missed something,but it seems that this is still a lifestyle for the wealthy.

We would like to help you anyway we can. We hit the road with only 1000 dollars in the bank and headed to our first workamping job. Buying the RV was the hardest part financially but we got a 20 year old rig and hit the road. 😀

Can I ask a BIG question.......one of my biggest concerns is health insurance. It is so expensive right now (or at least at my job). How do you afford health insurance on the road and not having a "regular job" and getting insurance through an employer. Thanks.
@tracybercegeay4264
@tracybercegeay4264 4 жыл бұрын
We have our health insurance through the Marketplace. What you pay is based on your income. The first year, we had no insurance. That was terrifying!! But Jan 1 2019 was our official coverage start date. 2 days later my husband was hospitalized and ended up having heart surgery. Talk about lucky, to have just gotten covered when this happened! So far, we haven’t had to pay a premium. We were looking at a plan at one point that would’ve cost us around $35/month, but it wasn’t as good as the plan we ended up choosing. So, yes, that is a big question, and it’s definitely something to consider. But it’s less expensive than most people realize. 👍🏼

My question is what does one do for health insurance? I know I am paying almost $400 a month threw my job just for me! Not sure were one would get insurance if they were not working as I have never look into it.

I don’t know all of their details, except that they have Blue Shield, which has nationwide coverage and was included in their “insurance” category of expenses that we mentioned for them, along with car and life insurance. AND... Johnny had open heart surgery not too long ago while they were on the road in Arizona! -Bill

The Marketplace is a great source for insurance. You pick the plan best for you and it’s all income based. Some plans are free, some cost a little, some cost a lot. You decide which plan you want.

@LiveSimpleLiveFree

Yes, and some people get them confused. A bill cannot be "paid off" because it reoccurs every month. But debts can be paid off and disappear forever. 😊

Exactly. So when our debts, eg RV payment, car payment, we’re paid off, things became so much easier.

@Daydreamer...if our combined income is $3000/month, it more than covers our expenses for that month. So if we are at a workamping gig for, say, 4 months, we may take a few months off and do some exploring. Then we work another short gig. Some jobs, like sugar beet harvest, last only a few weeks but we can make 5-7k in that short period. Keep in mind, our recurring monthly expenses are only cell phone and insurance. Other than that, we buy groceries and put fuel in the RV. So $3k a month goes a long way. 👍🏼

We have Blue Cross. We go home to Alabama once or twice a year to take care of the regular stuff. If something comes up between home visits we just call Blue Cross and find an office near us that is in-network.

We have coverage with Blue Cross and our home state is Alabama. However, there are in-network offices all over the country. I fell on Mackinac Island and called Blue Cross to find out where to go if I needed to have my knee looked at. So once or twice a year we make sure we go back home and take care of appointments, then just make a quick phone call if needed while on the road.

We didn't talk about this in the interview. But they can easily live on $3,000/month, which is very low. Anything above that amount that they earn can go into long-term savings. We do the same thing. But the cool thing is that they have complete control over that! Once they earn their required living expenses, they can elect to either take the next few months off, or to work for another month to add to their savings. It's having that control over your finances that is one of the most freeing things you could ever imagine. I guess we should have talked about that in the video (sorry).
