The best thing about scott in my opinion is how at the end of the day, he's not some giant big wizz in a tower like Bethesda, Nintendo, or other game companies. If anybody missed this when it happened: this was just an insane moment. Scott didn't (obviously doesn't now) really do interviews. There's one apparent interview from Geeks Under Grace shortly after the release of FNAF1. A couple of random other people saying they were interviewing him. Then Dawko got an interview with him and there was a subset of the internet that just lost their minds with excitement. Other than that Scott interacted with his fan base, often quietly, supported game creators, charities, and generally just existed as a genuinely good human being on the internet. What happened after was the actual horror story of the FNAF franchise. People find out Mr. Cawthon supported some republicans they didn't like, ignoring of course all context surrounding it. There were death threats to a man's family, doxxing, and general online assholery. The reaction was over the top as usual, with nuance nowhere to be seen. Anybody trying to mend the gap that was beginning to form in this rift that was happening in the community was also quickly labelled a bigot, homophobic, transphobic, etc. Scott of course rightly decided to just step away and be done with it, which I'm sure was heartbreaking for many people including himself. This is such a weird space to be in. I support LGBT people and want only the best for you. I want you to feel safe, secure, and I don't want you to feel like you have to explain anything to anybody about your identity. Its your basic human right to be able to live a happy life. However, whether you consider yourself a member of that group or consider yourself a supporter you have to remember that you aren't going to find many perfect allies. If we keep drawing hard lines in the sand for every perceived slight, all we are doing is portioning ourselves into smaller and smaller groups. The LGBT movement isn't going to be stopped by a $50k donation, let alone millions of dollar donations to people that want to stop it. Nor is it going to be stopped or even slowed by people buying the Hogwarts game. But it can definitely be hurt by alienating all of your imperfect allies. Anyway, I'm rambling and nobody's going to read this anyway. I hope the best for all of you.

I read it, and believe me, as a member of the LGBT+ community I totally side with your views and understand that what happened to Scott was unfair and over the top. However, in this capitalist world, our power is almost purely economic: and it's with where you use it that you shape the world the most. It's an ugly but real truth, but still not one that would justify what some people (not the whole community) did to Scott in any way. I would say, he was blinded by a slight naivety, surely not homophobia/transphobia. Let's say it: the politics world sucks nowadays, and unfortunately it's best to keep it offline if not private: which is a paradox, since it derives from the word "polis", many/city. But times change. On the flipside, this spectrum of canceling treatment happened to many LGBT+ creators and allies too: it doesn't have "cancel" as a name, but bullying, mobbing, "don't asked don't tell" etc... We all lose in these stories because of general ignorance and distrust. Please, let's also stop saying it's just one political side that does this, because it's not true: it changes in nature, but in the end it's fundamentally HARMING someone. Sorry for the long answer, but I sincerely want to show that there can be a reasonable reaction to Scott along with appreciation of his work. I like Fnaf, I love his imaginary and get inspired by him, and as long as he will not harm anyone actively (and I highly doubt he ever would, ignorance aside) I will never support toxic people Twitter canceling him.

Honestly, people in general are too quick to assume and hate.
