@@Celtic1020 How? Stating that Glitchtrap is dead in PQ ending of HW2 shows us that it never happened, since for it to happen in the first place, HelpTrap ending can't happen because our protagonist dies after giving the VANNI mask to Cassie. Should I remind you that even in the ending of HW1, where Glitchtrap clearly traps us in the VR game in his Glitchtrap body and escapes through our bodies, we return to the main lobby. And it could never happen when we are already not the player anymore. It's the same thing which happens after HelpTrap ending of HW2. There is no difference. Oh, and PQ ending could only happen IF all 3 PQ arcades were played *beforehand* . We know that it's not the case since Vanny is still around and both her and Gregory are still being controlled by Glitchtrap. How? We see a newly made looking VANNY bunny graffiti right next to the wall of where we find the Roxy talkie. How do I know it was newly made? There is also a VANNY graffiti at the DayCare area on the wall, but it looks faded away and started to get erased. Before you say anything, we only find 3 VANNY graffiti in Ruin, and only 2 of these are bunny shaped. So it clearly shows us that the Roxy talkie Cassie finds was placed there on purpose, and that Vanny still exists (which is a persona that exists because of Glitchtrap in the first place). As for Gregory, he's very suspicious at the elevator ending and he changes personality when Cassie gets into the elevator. Glitchtrap is still in him, that's why he changes personality ever so slightly (at first, he's very eager to make Cassie go to the elevator in a slightly angry and impatiently, but then he sounds genuinely sorry for what he is forced to do. that, and us never hearing his "friend" even thought they should have been the one giving Cassie the directions in the first place instead of Gregory). So all of these show that Glitchtrap is still active and around. Actually, I have enough proof to show, and only from the games, that Glitchtrap is William's soul, and he is actually Entity from Ruin. Entity is a ghost trapped inside the MXES machine/system. He's not a part of it, he's a virus, an anomaly. Just like Glitchtrap was in HW1. And because of all these evidence and things we have from the games, I can say that Glitchtrap is far from gone. He's still in the game. It's just that our fandom decided to make him the "good guy" instead of looking at the very obvious details.

That's like saying "UGH, I hate that Sister Location has KZbinR BAIT because it included the scooper."

This is actually a normal thing. Think of big shows- for example like he mentions Gravity Falls. The producer used to be bait in his show all the time haha. Thinking on it now it’s like Stan lee said ages ago, “The one holding the pencil will write the story how they want to write their story.”

I appreciate the sentiment, but you're kinda contradicting yourself. We can't be an undivided whole with opposing theories; especially since, without a common baseline, we can't actually move forward with new theories. That's actually a big part of FNAF's problem; in the first couple of games, the early stuff was confirmed as new mysteries arose, and that kept everyone on the same wavelength. But now? Theories have to be built on theories. And the more that happens, the more peoples' views on things diverge, and the less people understand each other. Interestingly, I imagine that's how different philosophies/ethical codes/religions diverged.

I loved this interview. And I must say as an avid south park fan and fnaf fan hearing him mention the south park movie on the game felt like my two hyper fixations coming full circle

help wanted 2 and ruin have truly brought me back to loving steel wool after going through the rollercoaster of adoring help wanted and then the less than stellar security breach.... but i have LOVED the two most recent games from steel wool and am excited to see where they go from here!

thoroughly enjoyed this whole interview. Really validated all the reasons why I think FNAF is one of the best games with their storytelling techniques. Steel Wool has already done an amazing job when Scott passed the torch to them, I'm so excited for what will come in the future. And of course to hear a dev compliment our lovely John's super sleuthing skills just warms my heart. So proud!!

WOW hearing about the elevation of Steel Wool’s journey with this franchise was crazy from going from 11 people working on Help Wanted with the project only being Fnaf 1 in vr to then finding out that Help Wanted 2 aka one of the best games in the series was made in a year CRAZY everyone at Steel Wool is super talented and hopefully they know how proud we all are of them and their work for both this franchise and the community ❤️❤️❤️

So I definitely agree that it’s sometimes better to leave questions unanswered in a series. It MIGHT be frustrating, but I’ve seen great stories get killed off by explaining them. The Old Gods in World of Warcraft were these series of mysterious eldritch creatures. They were very lovecraftian with names inspired by his work- C’thun instead of C’thulu etc. I loved how deep and mysterious they were. They would whisper things and drive you insane. They were hinted to be behind some very important lore events in some form or another. They were unexplained nightmares… and then they got explained. They’re just void parasites that work for some void gods. They get shot out into space searching for suitable planets to corrupt. That’s it. All the mystery was gone in an instant. So like… leave some of this stuff as a mystery forever. Its sometimes just better that way.

i love the way john indirectly phrases questions to get answers without asking outright, “are you getting that lightning in a bottle feeling right now?” to get potential info on if theres a fnaf game theyre working on that has them feeling like that. perfect😭
