If you’ve never been to Broadland for a holiday this video sums up the basics of whats here in such accuracy! Being high up helps except for the the low bridges. No wonder the Broads Authority don’t make tourism vids any more! Thats because people the country traveller do all the work! Brilliant video explains everything about being on the broads! Like so many others I sold up and moved here! I now have my own craft and see it all the time! Brilliant video look forward (post covid) to seeing you all on the water)

Hello Lee, I've just had a look at this video again and my reply to your comment seems to have disappeared 🙄 Thank you so much for your kind words, much appreciated. We tried to book to come back again this May but we couldn't find a suitable boat - our 2020 holiday was cancelled, of course. So we will hope to return next year now. I hope you are now able to get out on the water in your own boat - the warmer sunny days are just around the corner! Thanks again for taking the trouble to comment Lee, I'm really grateful. Best wishes, Rob

No thank you, I meant it all! What you have said is 100% on point! I hope we meet up at one of the many pubs on there one day, if fancy a walk round the area outside the broads, check out “walk with Tim” the Yarmouth wall, hidden parts of Norfolk and snow on the beach another great watch. Hope to see you soon CT

Can hardly wait for our family holiday on the Broads and rivers. My daughter and son-in-law are seasoned sailors, keeping their own boat on Windermere, near to where we live. They took their honeymoon on the Broads. I was here briefly last year with one of my grandaughters and we were so enamoured with what we saw that we now have a week booked, very excited about it too.

That's a great shame Matthew, it is such a lovely environment. Could you ease your duaghter in gently by taking her on a pedalo or similar at the beach in very shallow water? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, much appreciated. Best wishes, Rob

@@TheCountryTraveller Yeah there is an adventure farm near Brecon that we've been to and they have these small boats there and she wasn't too bad, but bigger boats and deeper water she won't do. I tried to tempt her on a boat trip in Tenby, my son wanted to but she flat out refused. Perhaps one day when she's a little older but for the time being it's not going to happen.

i notice at the start of your vlog you put a round red circle on your map, but why did you omit Stalham ? as that as the largest boat yard on the broads with Richardsons's boat yard and hire company, nd its the start of the broads on the northern half,

you could have carried on upstream and then turned round as there is the remains of an old water mill, also your suppose to use the BA bridge pilot not someone from barnes brinkcraft
@TheCountryTraveller4 жыл бұрын
We thought that we needed to ask a BA bridge pilot too, but when we spoke to them, they said that Barnes Brinkcraft were able to do the navigation. So we used them, as it was easier. They have certainly done it enough times before for many of their customers. It's a tight squeeze though, as I'm sure you know 😁

Where is the best place to start for a 7 night trip for first timers?
@TheCountryTraveller3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rebecca. Tx for watching the vid, much appreciated! We have always started from Wroxham. There are several boatyards to choose from. If you have a small (low) boat you can go under Wroxham bridge (the boatyard will help you do this) and go upstream as well as downstream. Mostly, you will go downstream. An easy place to moor on your first night is Acle Bridge. Last time we were there, the moorings on the right, as you go downstream, cost £5, I think, for the night. The moorings on the left, though are free. Once you get the hang of the boat, mooring is easier :) My strong advice is to get a boat with a Bow Thruster - make mooring easier. Other places you can start from are Potter Heighham, Stalham and Beccles - in the South (and some others) Here is a good link: www.mynorfolkbroadsboating.co.uk/index.html It's a great fun holiday, I hope you enjoy it! best wishes, Rob
@johnbrownbridge8733 жыл бұрын
A good place in my opinion is at Ferry Marina in Horning it's fairly quiet, the river's quite wide and there's a pub close to the yard. We've hired from them 3 times though this year we'll be going with Barnes. You do have to moor stern on here but that's true of most of the yards.
