I have obviously come late to the party, can't believe I haven't stumbled across this before. A thoroughly captivating and enjoyable video. Just like when reading a great book, I think I'll stay up late for another chapter. Thank you.

We spent a week on a narrow boat holiday when I was a lad in the 1960s. I now live in the U.S. and this brought back some fond memories. Thank you.

Not sure if you are still on KZbin but we have just watched your holiday and thoroughly enjoyed. We live near Skipton so your visit there was interesting. May we ask how is Harry? He was amazing....All the best, Tricia and Neil....

Hello Neil, Firstly THANK you for writing. Yes, I am still on KZbin. You might be sad to learn that Trish and I split up in 2018, but pleased to know that Harry celebrated his 99th birthday earlier this month. I am now living in Derbyshire. Now 75. but fit and well. You might be interested to know that I walked the coast path on England, Wales and Scotland soon after Trish and I split. All 390 days of the walk were videoed by me. You might like the full adventure covering 5,000 miles ( on KZbin. All the best to you both, Kind Regards. Jim

We hired sorrel from this hire company back in the year 2000. It was a good holiday. I remember there were a lot of swing bridges. The edges of the canal were very shallow and if you weren't careful you could get grounded. Also it rained most of the time.
@jimhawkinswalkstheuk6 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, I was impressed with the hire company. The boat was perfect in every way. I would recommend Pennine Cruisers to anyone. We were more fortunate than you in that the weather was good through our week hire, especially being September. We grounded on the odd occasion, like you say it was shallow in places on the edges. Kind Regards to you, Jim

Hireboaters back in the 60's 70's were almost entirely responsible for the interest in the network today. Without them and their revenue the canals would be long since forgotten!

HI Mersey Merlin, thank you for your kind comments. I am delighted that you watched our film and enjoyed it so much. Harry is a fantastic guy.He is a retired GP, very knowledgeable, intelligent and with a great sense of humour. This morning Trish and I are taking him for a ride to one of his favourite places, Louth in Lincolnshire, where he buys his Lincolnshire sausages. Harry is very good preparing his own dishes in the kitchen. Once again, thank you. Kind Regards, Jim

Hello Paul, This is our holiday which we shared with you. If you don't it I don't mind and I don't care. Out of 22,000 views, I have had two miserable people like you complain. I won't lose any sleep over that.
