Hey Pete....good review...any updates on how the lightning to 3.5mm cable is holding up?
@MaZEEZaM3 жыл бұрын
This is awesome, exactly what I am looking for as I was super frustrated with Apple for not adding USB C to the new iPhone as I am currently using the Dragonfly Cobalt Blue DAC/Amp to connect to my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and my IPad Pro. Even better that it’s available at Woolworths, hopefully my Woolworths online has it… It does, YaY. $30 is fine too. Second thoughts, Yes it will work purely for 3.1mm connection but I can’t use my Dragonfly unless I use this dongle lightning to 3.5mm then a 3.5mm female to female USB if such a quality adapter exists, for which i would connect the dragonfly. 🐙 😰

There is still no valid argument for removing the headphone jack. Apple did it to push Airpods, that's all. I'll buy one of these just so I'm not giving Apple any more undeserved money. I have an iPad Pro as well which means I also need a usb-c to audio converter. The argument for the iPhone losing its audio jack was slimness and waterproofing (both just red herrings) but the iPads are neither waterproof nor too slim for an audio jack so Apple just don't bother trotting out an excuse.

I wonder how necessary the cable between the aux and lightning connector actually is. Couldn’t it just be a solid little block with lightning and aux at each end? Maybe the flexibility of the cable is important for when it’s in your pockets though..

COUNTERFEIT MFi adapters will use a BT to avoid royalties. Non Apple adapters frequently buggy as all get out. They don't maintain connection. Apple has software problems with connection in some versions of iOs, though it may just be with aftermarket adapters. Microphone especially buggy over the Lightning to 3.5mm systems. Apple adapter has a DAC as Lightning out is digital, 3.5mm is analog. Agree with seeing BT as a hassle.

bluetooth is awesome sometimes and infuriating at other times. Sometimes you just want audio and no trouble shooting (yes bluetooth is an imperfect technology). I bought the Acoustix iphone/audio cable adapter from Fred Meyers and it's defective out of the box. Apple is definitely not trying to serve their customers on this point. Also I used to have the ability to have google maps talk through the stereo in my 93 Toyota ( which I love and wont get rid of until it dies. I just don't believe in throwing good products into the garbage heap just the stay relevant to the heard) Apple has the best hardware and Os with a few drawbacks. This is def one. I also bought one with an Ethernet adapter and that one is also broke. I’m tired of this low quality garbage that they sell us. You can fix them by cutting them open and resoldering the wires but it’s hard with these short adapters. I’m tired of the forced products on us too. I don’t want waterproofing or these multi camera phones. $1200 doesn’t get you a phone jack is a crime. They want you to buy there $200 wireless headphones. That’s why they took it out. Its the truth such a greedy generation taking over. They could make a cheaper model with out waterproof and with headphone jack, but then they lose money. Why do you think they stopped selling $200 iPods? So you can buy there $1200 iPhones!!!!!!!
