An issue with the SmallRig V-Mount Battery Plate

I had the same exact problem with my V-mount Adapter and 99w Battery from smallrig. What I did was SLIGHTLY loosen the screws on the battery's bracket. That allowed enough tolerance in the parts to get a confident lock. It's not too loose where there's wiggle or play in it either. I do wish the parts fit perfectly right out the box but it was a small modification and I've been running the battery for months with 0 issues or accidental unlocks

lol. I definitely agree not everyone needs to rig out a camera. There's probably too many rigging videos on KZbin for creators that will never use it. Even I really only have one camera rigged out - most others are pretty bare bones. My main rig is solely designed for wedding videography, where we're capturing 500gb throughout a 10-12hr wedding day. It's all about having a heavy handheld rig where I have to change batteries as few times as possible.
