First subscriber!! Let's goo!!! I wound't recommend them for weddings. Two reasons: because they don't have a long throw and shooting into them is kind of ugly. I'd recommend getting 2 Amaran 60x on 6-8ft light stands OR (something I really love, but is a bit heavier) a pair of Aperture LS 60x. They throw far enough to cover a dance floor, but also shooting into them gives nice flares. The Aperture's Fresnel lens is incredible.

I'm considering this with my R6II (and old R) for the touch compatibility in stills photography teathering to Capture One. @ I have an A7iv I use as a studio camera here. Charging it while recording when the heat setting isn’t set to high definitely kicks it into overheating. Just, charging the camera while using it in general without the setting on “high” will do that on the A7IV

Hello Ross, I have two questions about this monitor. Firstly, with the latest firmware how long does it take to power up. Is it sill about 15sec? Secondly, if you are using the DJI RS3 Pro gimbal, how would you still use touch-to-focus and also and get the gimbal to control your camera settings with the USB-C cable which it normally uses?
@RossBarnett02
@RossBarnett02 13 күн бұрын
@@ULTRA7862thoughtful questions here. Love it! 1.) unfortunately the startup time is still pretty long (I haven’t actually counted, but it’s around the 12-15s mark). To deal with this I simply leave the monitor on the entire shoot. 2.) I don’t own an RS3 Pro, and haven’t tested this, but I would imagine looping camera settings via usb-c is nearly impossible with these two. I feel like you’d either have to use one or the other (since they’re both needing that USB-C info/port from the camera) and not both. If you’re on a Sony camera, I would try using the multiport to send info to the RS3 (instead of usb-c, and then the USB-c on the monitor. I have no idea if the camera will allow itself to be controlled by two sources at the same time though.

Good video, thanks! The touch-to-focus works great on my Canon R5 Mark II. Glad it's finally available although it's disappointing that it took so long. The power pass-through works well on the R52. The LP-E6P batteries have great longevity and even though the camera battery is basically trickle-charged via the monitor, it hasn't been problematic. I agree that touch-to-focus should be available on all Atomos monitors. I doubt if it can be accomplished via firmware updates on monitors like the Ninja V without having the USB-C port for camera control, though.

This monitor really needs physical buttons on top to assign the most-used monitoring tools. I own the Portkeys BM5 III, and being able to quickly toggle peaking, waveform, false colors, LUTs (or whatever you prefer) is absolutely essential for run-and-gun shooting.
