An NFPL Review...But What Is NEXT??

We have our ‪@nfplfutsal‬ champion in Grand Rapids OLe, their second in 3 years. That said, one can't help but wonder what the future of this league is. Can they recover from losing a women's and youth division, as well as 6 teams exiting the program? Why are championship matches being hosted at the commissioners home court, instead of empowering the team with the best record the resources to recoup their expenses via ticket sales? These are only a couple of stinging questions, along with the absence of another 6 teams this year. Will there even be enough teams to play next season, or will the NFPL join the graveyard of several other failed attempts at a sustainable US futsal league? The time is NOW! We need all you futsal lovers to come out of the woodwork and speak your peace. Demand more demand better. I for one want better and I want to work with others that want the same thing. I think that if we all come together and pool what we got we can move the needle in the right direction. I think we can save American Futsal from another league casualty. Great work as usual Jake well said and spot on. Keep the great content coming!

I like the neutral site decision for the championship. It’d be unfair if one of the participating teams got to host the Super Bowl, just to give an example.

I think I would agree if there was money behind the league and teams. However right now it just takes an opportunity away from someone to get some money at the door. I also think the crowd in Grand Rapids is typically double what we saw at this match. Last two GR games I went to were standing room only!

In the MLS, the Shield winner hosts the Final if they make it to the final. Otherwise, its at a site that is up for bid. If a neutral site was used, one that could provide great broadcast/streaming ability to sell advertising would be preferable. Maybe a G-League (basketball) facility. A cut of the revenue would go to each club. The major chunk to the league office to provide logistic and marketing support.
