An Ode to Field Our Vehicles

From endless flooding lakes, to dusty barren landscapes,
From covid vaccinations, to lion translocations,
From fencing all those holes, to those long night patrols,
From every lion yawn, to every glorious dawn,
From every Kili reflection, to every lion detection,
For every tent we erected, a lion we protected,
From all that data we collected, a Guardian and lion were connected,
For every lion track we did follow, our tyres were always ‘Apollo’,
For every sunken warthog hole, we never lost overall control,
For every fire we did dispatch, and always getting out of a muddy patch,
For every livestock we did herd, a lion on the road we shared,
With every journey so…so far, you guided us with the Southern star,
Is it a gecko….or a stump? Catch it before the stick does jump!
For each critical emergency, you delivered with such urgency,
For never missing any opportunity, you always served the local community,
For every puncture repaired, we lived a life to be shared,
You deliver every time, impacting conservation for a lifetime.
