For a while, I worked desk work for a company in a warehouse. Lots of us were in the storage area. I referred to the desks there as being "in the garage" because we got to smell the exhaust from the forklifts. The boss complained, until I told him I'd stop calling it "working in the garage" when he stopped parking his car in the same room as my desk.

I once found myself in the basement of one of the buildings on my college campus, and underneath one wing of the building was a big football field sized room. At one end by the door it was well lit and had a flat concrete floor, and there was a little office set up there with a desk and a computer and everything. Immediately to the right of the desk was just a massive open space extending off into darkness, filed with nothing but concrete columns, pipes, and piles of lose gravel. Not your typical office environment.

This makes me happy. My office is technically a meter from my bed, so I like to claim the balcony as my office. My laptop is not possible to read in the outside light, but it's still a nice change of scenery. There are tables around my complex, so sometimes I can find one in the shade with privacy. Those are great days until the students return from school.
@bottasheimfe57509 ай бұрын
oh man this is such a great idea. it sounds so much better to turn a commute from driving to a rent-a-officespace building into just going down the elevator of your apartment's building to a private garage. I know that if I had such a space available I'd use it regularly as a workspace like that.

I think part of this is like a "best of" for an episode. So, we'd have to wait 8 more months for the next animated cortex episode... Maybe in 18 months we'll get the, "oh my God, I'm melting. I thought it would be okay because being underground is cooler, but I forgot that I have 18 concrete floors of radiating heat above me."

A tiny audiology booth would fit your stand up desk and air filter perfectly. Screeching tires could set off a car alarm outside and you’d never know. And a large ice chest/yeti cooler full of frosty drinks should be enough to keep the temperature down inside.

I feel there has to be a way to set that basement office up to keep it cooler in there, even if just havin it closed on an window AC set on the ground xD But also, usually underground is significantly cooler than aboveground, so heres hopin it stays under 30c (86f) in there in the summer, ideally under 25c (77f) The area outside the unitll likely get significantly warmer in the summer than inside the garage, just cuz of all the traffic to and from outside makin more heat available down there
