Gee. I like this guy’s commitment to simplicity and totally agree. However, I love the idea of getting on an Outback ( with the taller headtube ) and running Paul’s Klamper mechanical disc brakes to keep the simplicity still. Plus he would get larger tire options ( like a 38mm road tire ) for comfort on his back. Either way, I’m envious of his bike and happy for him. Great video

I like the fun name Ritchey gave the frame color, Sally's Macarons, but as soon as I pulled mine from the box at home my wife said, so, you decided to go with a Bordeaux for color this time. I didn't know what to call the color before. Now it's Bordeaux or burgundy. They both seem to fit. Took mine out for a first shake down ride last Friday. Damn, it felt great. Good luck to Mark with his. I'm sure he'll love it. Oh. One more thing. Based on my other road bike and the measurements I decided to order a Nitto S-92 inline seatpost. Centered my saddle. Once adjusted for height placement was perfect. It felt great on my first ride. I'll need a few more rides to make sure. I just love Nitto stems and bars. Now, my first Nitto seatpost. Excellent.

George, it was great to see you and get to chat again! While I will agree that carbon frames and wheels, disk brakes and aero cockpits are technically superior (and “sexy”), they come with the penalty of added complexity. To me, there is a beauty in a simple steel rim brake road bike. And it ridiculously easy for me to maintain a rim brake road bike with external cable routing. Living in Southern California (dry) and being a larger rider that rides custom alloy wheels with higher spoken counts (28 or 32 rear), I never encounter conditions where I lack enough braking power.

it was great to see you as well! I agree with you on so many points. They call me a Retro Grouch but honestly so many "new and improved" things are simply not necessary to enjoy a great day out on the bike. I can't wait to see your Road Logic built up. Send me a few pictures and I will post them on the channel. Thank you for your business and your friendship over the years!

It checks all boxes for easy maintenance and home mecanics . Bsa BB, external cables, 27.2 seatpost, you can fit whatever you want. As it’s a steel bike, no removable derailleur hanger. What could fail ?😅 We see a nice Celeste Bianchi in the background. Could you présent us this one? À Columbus tsx frame?

Correct there is nothing to fail and all simple and elegant construction. It is a Bianchi from 1987 I think the tubing only says "Chro Moly" I will check though

I got the new road logic as well in a 55. As for shock-absorbing seat posts - go for the Ergon all road carbon post. It’s the split one they also fit on canyon endurace. It came best by a mile in flex tests and I swear by it and put it on my road logic. Smoothest rise of my life and traveling with me to Laos for work and ride tomorrow.
@markganzer11 ай бұрын
As I mentioned elsewhere, the Ergon has a recommended max rider weight of 220 lbs. I am currently at 215 :-/ Also it is not flex I wanted as much as dampening. I was dealing with pinched nerve in L5-S1 joint that was excruciating painful every time I hit a pavement joint. The rubber cushion in the eeSilk+ is just enough to dampen those hard road shocks.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad11 ай бұрын
Hello Philip thank you so much for chiming in on the Ergon All Road seat post. I think I will get one for my Outback and try it out. Thanks for watching!
@markganzer11 ай бұрын
The other issue I saw with the Ergon is that it probably optimized to an average rider that is considerably lighter than l am. The CC eeSilk+ has interchangeable rubber inserts that allow you to tune it based your individual rider weight and amount of dampening desired. Again a “Clydesdale” rider problem :-/
@pipoann11 ай бұрын
@@markganzerI guess, I mean they make the endurace in big sizes and fit the ergon post throughout but yes, I am sure a weight limit applies. Good luck with your new setup!

@@SeeYouUpTheRoadcheers. I am curious to see whether you can fit a 32 tire on your road logic as you suggest in the vid. In my mind the tight spot will not be the fork or rear but the brake caliper. I am running conti 4s 28s on 25 mm rim and it’s not tight but anything above 30 will be.

It’s so true that tire and rim width choice is what really matters. I also think that custom wheels are something to also consider.
@markganzer11 ай бұрын
Being a “Clydesdale” rider, I am very careful with my wheel selection. I have broken my share of spokes on rear wheels with 24 or fewer spokes (even on an old carbon-alloy Zipp 808), so I stick with custom-built 28 or 32 spoke rear wheels with alloy rims.
@bonbonflippers429811 ай бұрын
I'm no heavy weight but I prefer spending the cash on custom wheels when buying expensive wheels. I just feel you get more for your money amd durability. After riding on 24h aluminum wheelset as my gravel wheels that was custom built I just find custom wheels are built stronger than off-shelf wheels.

Easily fitting 30mm tires on HED Ardennes with 4mm of clearance left on cane creek eebrakes, on my new 2024 ritchey logic I got from George. This new frame just rides so nice, everyone should own a rim brake ritchey, truly a beautiful riding bike! And for the price it can’t be beat.

Hi George. I've had the new Ti Moots with disc brakes for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say that these disc brakes are the best I've ever tried. Before this bike, I had another Ti with rim brakes and a Cervelo S5 with rim brakes, both equipped with Enve 4.5 and 5.6 wheels. Those Enve wheels had a textured braking surface (you can Google it), providing excellent braking even in the rain. I also tested some Hed wheels with a similar texture, and they performed as well as Enve (using DA calipers and special Enve pads). My new bike is equipped with Ultegra 12-speed Di2, and these disc brakes are on another level. They stop incredibly fast, and the brake feel is excellent. Time will tell, but for now, I don't see myself going back to rim brakes. Oh and Tubeless has been great! Super nice and Dynaplug is holding strong.

I dream in another world the bike industry would have not taken the turn that led us to SL8 and the like. The Road Logic rim, with a Mech groupset is something that just seems so right to Me but at the same time wrong (where would you source DA 9000- DT Swiss Oxic 32 wheels?), as it seems like its from a long gone and now outdated era, of simple but beautifully crafted bikes.

Am I the only one not enamored by either of the colors Ritchey offered this year? The green Disc is especially lackluster.
@SeeYouUpTheRoad11 ай бұрын
Hello Barry, you're not alone. I am not particularly enamored with the Road Logic Disc green color. However, as I mentioned in the video, I didn't think much of the Road Logic rim color combination until I saw it in person. It struck me as an odd color combination when looking at the pictures on the internet but I really like it now. Thanks for watching!
@barrytantlinger103311 ай бұрын
@@SeeYouUpTheRoad It's a shame for me about the Disc. I really wanted a modern steel road bike (I have a perfectly good rim brake bike and don't need another), but I think when you look at your bike, it should make you want to ride it. That paint job just doesn't do that for me. I also wish the Disc had a little more tire clearance than the rim brake version; Ritchey will tell you it should take a 32, but I would like a more definitive answer from them. It basically comes down to it might depending on your tire/wheel combo but a disc frame should easily clear 32 in this day and age. I'm looking for other options - maybe a Fairlight...
@SeeYouUpTheRoad11 ай бұрын
@@barrytantlinger1033you know the old saying - you can’t please everyone. I absolutely LOVE the new rim brake frame colors and so does Jess 😊 It’s different and nobody has anything close to it. And you really need to see it in person it looks freaking amazing! Also there is no reason anyone needs more than 32 tire clearance on a road bike. I’m happy with my Road Logic colors and I’m happy with 32mm tire clearance and so are so many riders I’ve spoken to. If you need more than 32 get a “gravel” bike and put 48’s 😂 just kidding but not really
